KUALA LUMPUR: Exactly a decade ago, Malaysia was in the economic doldrums, former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim faced sodomy charges, and disbelieving citizens suspected a government conspiracy.

the politics in this case is media fodder; one can never know the real truth from the turn of things, not if you are exclusively privy to information. sources from the media should not be treated as primarily authentic.

I'm not sure if any commentary about our neighbouring country is appropriate.

Without doubt, it has become an obvious case of of extremely bad strategical error on the part of the ruling coalition to press on with the charges, IF it is really a formulaic plan to shut down the former deputy. Even if it is not, it is still a bad move.

What bothers me is that they seem oblivious to that error...

he he 8-) we are free to comment, but keep unintellectual/ personal opinions under control (surely brother James didn't start this for the sole purpose of pelting at out neighbours).

The supposed pepetrator = 60 yr old politician with chronic back problem

The supposed victim = Young healthy 23 yr old man

Now if you are a bright young healthy man and a 60 yr old person with back problems comes tries to screw you in the ass........................................

I leave it up to you all to use common sense

there is nothing more to all this than political agendas. socially and economically, the country is fine. the only difference is, there is political freedom in malaysia. and at least there is objective journalism in malaysia. not like stomp.com.sg deleting pictures of li jiawei dragging the singapore flag on the ground at the olympics. but i digress.

maybe it is too difficult for singaporeans to understand that political freedom will not necessarily end up in chaos or anarchy.

no matter how spectacular all the shit on the news appears. the media flurry doesn't affect the man on the street at all, because it is backed by personal and political agendas.

anyway, i don't think anwar actually did the butt sex. but he seems to enjoy getting arrested and creating chaos in the country. kind of reminiscent of chee soon juan. that is his downfall

thats Malaysian politics for you. Tho im not saying ours is any better, its just more SUBTLE.

in malaysia, a cabinet minister can fail to be re-elected. that is power to the people.

in singapore, some cabinet ministers seem to be carrying their immunity idol to tribal council. i'd like to see wong kan seng stand for election at a contested SMC, alone.

^ haha i understand what your driving at. oh well, i guess we'll never live to see that day come. when we can actually VOTE for our prime minister. and MPs

My question if its a conspiracy is, why use the sodomy implication?

Why not tag him with murder or embezzlement etc?

I mean, if I wanted him out and I have enough influence, I'd get him with a solid case with no hope ever of him coming back to haunt my ass(heheheh).

I think it can be harder to implicate someone with sodomy charges then say, corruption charges.

If it's murder, you need a body, and then you need to link up that body and the deed to the one you are framing. Not so easy. Embezzlement? He's been out of the governing structure for so long - what is there to embezzle?

Framing him for sodomy is not the most brilliant (in fact, quite stupid IMO), but this could become a you-said-I-said kind of thing, and much easier (relatively) to bring about. And don't forget the religious dimension to this "crime".

Using the same trick twice, they are not a very creative bunch of people or they think that the people are naive to belive it again. All in all, the people suffer from these childish behaviour of the politicians.

I see, i was merely producing examples of stuff to implicate him with instead of sodomy, TWICE for that matter. If they want him to disappear from the political scene, they can probably just do alot better than that.

Oh well, after the recent pedra blanca fiasco about their ficticious blogger and the lighthouse, I guess you can't just make any of this stuff up anymore.

Hehehehe I don't quite follow this one, but I heard from my friends saying.

Anwar guess did not do it - because the young man ass is still a Virgin lah ...Kekekeke.

The doctor who testify that the young man is a vrigin, had policeman knocking on his door a few times, like threatening him - so he left the country - correct or not.

Then America Mr Bush says to Malaysia (something like better be clean here)...and Malaysia says - "Shutup Mr Bush and mind your own business" .... Hahahahahaha...so funny.

I guess Mr Bush must be thinking "When the President Of Malaysia Speaks - only the Malaysians Listens - but when The President Of America Speaks - Everyone/The Whole World listens".... then after listening they say "Aiyah mind your own business lah" Hehehehe.

- - - Anyway I just have fun here (relax a bit from my work pressure) - - - no offence everyone - just TCSS only...cheers !

hey, i'm from malaysia and here's my take on the issue.

not the dumbest fool belives this conspiracy. can you belive a 60 year old man with back problems sodomize a 23 year old? since the march 8th elections, anwar has been making waves about mps from the ruling coalition jumping ship to the oppostion to form a new government. if you're the prime minister, won't you be worried?

so returns the sodomy charge.. sodomy is chosen because it's humiliating and the penalty is stiff. it's still a crime even if done voluntarily. so here we go again..

anyway, most malaysians are hoping for a new government. can happen in singapore? hmm... that is to be discussed in private. haha..

the beauty of being in malaysia is that there's a colourful and exiting political scence to watch. and we can slam and punish our leaders (bye bye samy ), hold protests as we like.

just across the causeway, any bad comment on the leaders is a potential bankrupt-maker.. i remembered recently there was a news about 10+ guys promptly detained for protesting against high food prices. and the opposition guys sued over and over again. wa... that's an efficient government for you!
