Machine Heads Help!!

I've been sourcing around for new machine heads for my MIK Epi G-400.. however i understand that there are different sizes for them.. as i'm reluctant to drill holes especially on the headstock... would anyone happen to know the right size for them?? some forums are telling that they use 18:1 and some 15:1 so I'm really confused here... how do i measure acutally?? anyone care to share??

Those ratios are between gears teeth and the number of turns, nothing to do with machine head sizes.

Maybe a place with plenty of machine heads would be a good place to start with, as there might be a machine head suitable for your guitar.

bring down your guitar to a shop and compare your machine head with others available at the shop. that way you can be sure that it fits and you can even get the shop to install it for you if you are feeling lazy.
