Low Output Clean Sounds

Hi :)

I'm using an Ibanez SA260 which comes with HSS.

However, when i switch pickups from my humbucker to my single coils or i off distortion, it is inaudible unless i turn up my volume really loud....

So is there anyway to increase the volume atleast? Cause it's rather annoying to have to put my volume pedal low during distortion but when i turn off the gain I have to raise the volume again.

Helps? :S

After reading your post, I still don't really understand what you're getting at. I think you missed out some parts.

Anyway, I would assume that you're saying that when you switch pups from your H to your S you are experiencing a volume and gain drop? Well, for the gain drop, I mean that's the point of the S in your config right? To offer some different tones and output.

But for the volume drop part you can play around with the pickup heights on the two positions that you're having problem with.

Uhhh, nope, sorry for the miscom i guess.

When i switch from H to S and off my distortion, the volume like i said, is inaudible.
However, irregardless wether in H or S, it still is inaudible whilst playing clean

So pickup heights?

yeah. Try adjusting the S higher?

Humbucker = Louder, + Distortion Pedal's Level = Even Louder.

Turning off both = turning the volume down.

When you switch and hit the pedal off, just turn up the volume on your guitar...

well, actually like you know you watch some vids, you see the guys demo-ing a guitar, playing distortion, and after that he just presses his pedal an it goes clean and the volume is the same? However for mine, my volume drops... yeah

Single coils naturally (or generally) have lesser output than humbuckers. So a volume drop in rather normal. Even between humbuckers there can be volume jumps.

About the distortion volume. It is? Then it's not? Are you aware that different pedals have different unity gains? As in pedal A when vol 9 o'clock is same volume as bypass and pedal B when volume at 12 o'clock then same as bypass. Like my two drive pedals. Their level knobs are at 9 and 12 but they are the same vol as clean. Finding the unity volume is the most basic in your sound check.

+1 to reliquish.

Also if thats the case lower your humbucker or raise your sc

Well, i just run it through an AX3000g, not 2 diff pedals. Just using it as an individual effect, by just turning off the distortion, even whilst on a humbucker, the clean is inaudible.... not sure if i'm making sense or not, haha sorry.

Still quite new to guitars :S

I was a user of the AX3000G. Some questions.

Your clean. Is it a clean patch and distortion patch, or manual play or is it you bypass the distortion when on a patch?
- If it is a separate patch case, it's just like what I said. Two patches at same volume level e.g. 7.5 does not equal to same actual volume.
- If you mean bypassed, try playing straight to amp (plug out the Korg), then try with the Korg but bypassed.

One possible solution: Look at the back of the KORG. There's an output knob. Play around with it (slowly though). If it is about that knob, the output may be too low with your distortion volume level too high. (I THINK ONLY. PLEASE DO WITH CAUTION)

Being new to guitars is not quite the problem. I played with the KORG when I was a beginner, and I found it quite intuitive.

this whole thing has nothing to do with humbuckers or single coils.

ur distortion patch's and ur clean patch's end signal is not balanced, that's the problem. u can balance it by tweaking ur pedal. either lower volume of distortion patch or up volume of clean patch or do both also can.
