Lovepedal Redhead and Suhr Riot comparison

Hi guys,
just wanted to ask if anyone has owned both of these pedals and know their tonal characteristics very well. I've read reviews and watched demo videos of both pedals but I still can't tell any significant difference between these two high distortion pedals.
Anyone has any insights about this?? Thanks for any contributions :D

I never played/owned the lovepedal but i own the riot and im loving it to bits.

Its a great distortion that emulates an angry Marshall JCM amplifier. To some, it is even able to reach Diezel and Bogner amp territory. If you're looking for modern tones, this pedal is for you. The mid toggle switch allows for voicing accordingly ranging from rounded mids/flat mids and scooped mids. This pedal however isn't designed to push an overdriven amp and will sound quite nasty when tried.. best to be activated from a clean setting. Gain range this pedal is great for classic rock to hard rock, may not be the best for heavy metal chug though.

The unique nazalness this pedal can get is also interesting to note, and its also very pickup sensitive. If you watched Mr. Mark Day's demo on youtube you will see the impressive chug he can get with EMGs, whereas i'm playing through my Gibson's 57 classics hence being unable to provide similar chug levels, but sweet classic/hard rock tones.

Heres my input.

How does it compare, in your opinion, to the riot? They sound almost the same on the video! I've got a riot but the dual channel on the HGM seems immensely useful..

i thought the difference was pretty obvious on my speakers, for the HGM vs riot.

the riot was slightly smoother on the top end, with more mids. the HGM sounded slightly 'looser'.

put on earphones and listen to the clip again, i think you'll be able to hear it pretty easily!

Yeah, the riot is tighter n it also has more gain. I'm sure HGM has more mids, check out the last section of the clip where he boosted the mids abit (and theres still 1 more mid boost option). That said, I'd choose the HGM cos of the crunch channel, tweakability and price over the riot.
