Loose tuning peg?

I have this jazz bass which I dig alot, from the feel to the looks to the tone. BUt theres just this 1 annoying problem. The tuning pegs go out of tune pretty easily, especially the G string peg which just needs a slight bump and itd go flat. Anyone noes if theres any solution to this other than changing all the pegs?

Btw, how much do new tuning pegs cost? and where gt sell?

your jazz bass tuning pegs should be the vintage kinds ...

if you look on the back of your headstock there should be a huge fat screw on each peg staring at you when you look at it ...

try to tighten that ... that's the screw that keeps the tuning gear in place ... if you tighten it the peg should take more effort to turn ... thus reducing accidental bumps that will cause your peg to move ... it works for me ... hope that helps ...
