Live Recording

What would you use to record a jam as live as possible.. lets say if u duwanna do multitrack recording or using mixer whatsoever.. are there any good sound recorders out there? Hp ones suck and ive heard e older creative mp3.. they suck as well.. esp e drums.. sound like crap.. haha.. so any idea?

use an md man....those with recording function...say sony...u can get 2nd hand for below hundred...

then u line in the output from ur mixer into the md using audio cable...thats e proper way....

haha.. but den not all jam studios have mixers right.. hmm not to mention drum mics too..

I guess it's pretty hard to get a good sound if u wanna do it in any way other than multitracking cos the sound will usually be v unbalanced.

one way which my band used to do was to use just one mic, let all the amps face it and record using the com. the drum sounds will naturally leak into the mic so all u have to do is to balance the amps. Listenable, but really v v raw stuff.
