I believe there are many gd bass players here but pls do more to educate. You learn from your teachers then share it. think like Open source.

haha bro, call me selfish ass,but i pay for my private lesson,im not telling other people every technique or how to apply the scale just like that...i pay a good sum of money for that certain thing

bro, dont get offended la,you should know the consequences of writing such guides, when you make a mistake, you'll be criticised,be it in a soft or hard approach...
crispy egg got a point there, all those starters will be looking up to your thread as their lifeline,it is better to edit or remove those misleading/unclear info...
one should accept criticism from others, eventhough its a harsh one but as long as its true,in the end you yourself will benefit from it what,if you cant take it then might as well wear skirt

honestly ben, i've been to your site a few times and found it to be extremely informative.

i hope CrispyEgg's criticism was constructive as you read through it ... sometimes the best way to learn is when people criticize you and you begin to change ... unless you know somehow they are attacking/criticizing you because they don't like you ...

anyway, really great effort on the blog, i wanted to setup one also ... to cover a different section but always never had the chance or time or the energy ... (lazy lah ... hahahah) .... so i really commend you on your effort, keep up the good work yeah? ...

hi ben, sorry if u got the wrong idea of the critique post, lemme clarify my intentions, rather than go into technical details.

firstly, if you wanna shoot me down for being mean and rough, then for crying out loud, shoot me down. it's pretty obvious u were trying to do so when u said, "just disappointed with pple who talk more than do." and "Since you guys are better atexplaining and playing the bass, why not take up the role to share? Selfish? or only know how to talk?"
if you have been around, i HAVE been sharing alot on gear, how-to's as well as other topics on the guitar, studio recording, etc forums. i did NOT accuse you nor insult your character, so why start the fire with words like "selfish" when you don't know me?

secondly, GO and read my post again. "I still glad that some people are encouraging but not all" excuse me, but when i posted that critique, i had the intentions of indirectly encouraging you to improve yourself. never did i shoot you down and say stuff like, 'hey man you're lousy you should just give up'. did you misunderstand me because you couldn't read my intentions from the tone and phrasing of my post? then i'm horribly offended.

thirdly, i like to receive comments. i have previously started threads too, check the archives i'm sure they're still around. i find it distasteful that i took time to write you a "comment" and you have taken it as an insult and decided to block it out. maybe you have a job outside of the music scene and music is just a hobby of sorts? i'm sorry, a handful of us here take music seriously, not because it is our bread and butter, but because it is our soul and our passion.

please, go back to page 1 and read what i said again. that was NOT a flame post to insult nor offend you, but instead something i thought would be constructive to the way you blog and teach the people out there.

to add,

quote: "i have never intended to make it from a beginner's level to an advanced one"
okay, so maybe you don't have that passion for music, alright. when i gave the example of teachers not teaching students how to slap early on in lessons, it was solely for good intentions. you may not understand this, but i'm sure many music teachers out there understand the need for a structure and basic discipline when it comes to your musical journey of learning techniques. it's just like how you don't teach a child how to run when he doesn't even know how to walk yet. (after giving this straight forward example and explanation, if you still do not get it, then nvm, go ahead and slap silly)

quote: "i.e the intention is not to share abt compressor but I happen to write abt it from my understanding."
yet, you say your blog is a site where you SHARE the things you learn. what? huh? i-r-o-n-y.

quote: "I am not writing as a professional writer nor journalist. Hope to clarify this point." nobody ever thought you were. i for one didn't. and i do not expect you to be writing professional articles either. did you know that in some professions, the less accurate the article is, the more it sells because it's juicy or whatever? my entire critique was asking you to be more accurate, NOT asking you to write more professionally.

quote: "Note that i am not earning $$$ from writing this blog just an interest thingy"
note that i post on soft and i don't earn $$$ (actually i'm spending time instead), i just hope to be helping people along the way, whether my posts are technical, critical or just answering a question.

and honestly, if you get to know me, i'm NOT a technical person. i may be technical about certain stuff like effects and such because many people are deceived about what a pedal can or cannot, does or does not do. but when it comes to playing music, i rely on very little technical skill, theory or previously learnt licks. i like to just play what i feel

go look at yourself in the mirror before racing your mouth away. i thought you always had good intentions and you'd be a helpful person around soft.com, but maybe all this while you've been really self centered and u're using this as a platform for people to throw you ego-boosters.
