however my top 3 would be

1) Withered Tree
2) A Stale Melodrama
3) West Grand Boulevard (ohhh yessss)

international indie act would be

Doves (i might be bullsh*tting, but I love em)

seriously, i think Flawed Element is going to do some serious damage. HAHAHA! I VOTE FOR FLAWED ELEMENT TO PLAY FOR LSB!

The Top 3 for me.
Silhouette.
Amateur Takes Control.
Cardinal Avenue.

They draw the crowds.
They got the stage presence.
They got an Ep/album comin up.

Plus a repeat of a few of last years line up.

Regional,id like to see Urbandub again.
Or The Antiques from australia

C'mon levan,we know what you want!

LOL.
Believe me guys, if i had 100% final say in the lineup, I'd pick everyone just for the sake of making everyone happy. :) I'd pull in bands my friends are in, bands that everyone suggests, all the Baybeat bands, and bands of every genre!

But it IS an event held under the flag of a corporate company, and that usually involves sponsors. Happy sponsors = we can do a bigger better show annually for the benefit of the scene!

But I also need to take into consideration the mass appeal of the band while taking note of the indie credibility of the band. :)

I think there's another shoo-in coming up!

ands that are keen to play but shy to speak up before, now is the time you can pimp your band up and suggest yourselves for a slot! :) Keep in mind the following

1) Are you of a professional standard, performance and marketing wise?
2) Are you really able to draw in the big crowds yet?
3) Do you have an album / EP to promote in conjunction to the gig (Might as well use the opportunity to push sales or marketing!)
4) Do you love your staplers?
5) And most importantly of all, what will your band offer to the lineup that other bands do not?

I "shyly" volunteer Retro Groove. Only issue we have is point 4. - we dont belive in staplerlove because of our assorted religions.

The Aussie band Vanden sounds great but their songs sound too much alike. UrbanDub's music is aslmost as good as it gets BUT the singer's voice is ridiculously poor when compared to the what the band comes out with - Each time his voice comes on, it takes me no more than 4 seconds to switch the song off. Sad!

Me thinks a hot Thai band sounds great. Ferns from Malaysia is very cool too.

<snip>...Ferns from Malaysia is very cool too.

Oh, can't agree with you there, Rork dude.
Saw them at recent Mosaic, and wasn't surprised they got dissed in ST's review. They sound a lot better recorded than live. The frontman (Warren?) was just mumbling thru the songs. Youtubes vids are not impressive as well.

My bad then. I've heard their stuff on MySpace and they sound great there.I did have concerns with his voice even then and wondered if he could carry it over to a life show. He does sound very cool on their MySpace songs.

RoRK, I caught them on myspace as well. On the strength of that went to Mosaic to watch them live. All I can say is that lucky for me it was free. BTW, read this for a funny comparison with Reza Salleh:

Pirates of the Bargain Bin: Baybeats 2007: Saturday - Observation Deck - Reza Salleh and Warren Chan

Pity there's no punch line to the story.

My apologies to Ferns' fans (I did try to like 'em).

Hahaha, the only Singaporean bands they'd ever liked were the Observatory and B-Quartet. Thank God!

Well, there's real talent and then there's pure and pathetic self-indulgant BS masquerading as talent.
:-)

Some can't see the difference between two 2s.
Thank goodness more than a few can see the difference!

THE bands

I'd say Flawed Element!!! These guys seriously seriously rocked the house at *G.R.I.N.*. Very professional guys, sound conscious, considerate, humble and friendly. Their music: Head-Banging Good.

As an organizer, they really were one of the bands that gave me the least problems, and yet provided some of the best entertainment during our concert.

Another band is fgl's band, RetroGroove. Also very problem free, and yet super entertaining band. The original which they played is very catchy, and distinctly Singaporean.
