Lets talk about PHASE!

sigh i have been suffering from GAS for months now  but my patience will be rewarded...my setup is still in the planning phase

i wanted to get a phase, but then i realised i have no need for it now... :D

it's true that it maybe hard to integrate the phase well into ur music

so what are you planning, dude?

thou shalt see in a coupla months....still working hard to save up for it
but its still very basic....wah dist chorus delay setup kinda thing....

im using a modded mxr phase 90. added a lot of mods to it. its got a volume boost switch and added a depth knob. also change the resistor so theres a wider range of speed. theres also a switch to toggle between "almost stock" and "almost script version". i say almost because i changed a lot of other capacitors and resistors inside so it'l never be fully stock or fully script. this was all done to tune the sound to my own liking. couldnt add anymore mods cos of the small casing of the phase90, didnt want to get a larger housing cos my pedalboards got limited space alr. but anyway, if you;d wanna get a phaser, i wouldnt suggest the phase 90 stock. i think the redwitch ones are cool. really great sounding. the phase 90 stock aint good at all for cleans. for dirty its quite ok though. but yea..these are the only 2 phasers ive tried. id go for the redwitch.

Nick:U lucky **********

Ciel:ya man, can always buy 20 effects,at the end you forget why you bought the boutique ones in the first place....the signal comes out so processed...

I think simple rock rigs are damn cool....if i do buy many pedals....prolly need a buffer...anyone using one?or atleast a looper :D

If you have buffered pedals you don't need a buffer. If you have true bypassed pedals then you don't need a loop box. If you have a mix of both, then mix and match :D

Generally the best scenario is one buffered pedal at the start of the chain, the rest true bypassed. But realisitically just one buffered bypass anywhere in the chain will do, you mainly want to buffer the signal before the long cable back to the amp.

HOWEVER, the above is only if you are a true bypass guy. Buffered bypass has it's uses and many love them for that and will use as much buffered bypass as they can.

It's alright but not the most transparent one. When I get my new amp you can come over and listen to how the different pedals and their buffers change the tone. You'll need a big clean amp to hear individual buffers alter tone. The DT10 IMO is slightly more transparent than the DT10 but I still didn't like it much.

The axess buffer

is supposedly one of the most transparent one around. I haven't tried one yet though.

Anyway, if the tone change of one pedal is so minimal that you aren't bothered by it, then it isn't a problem. I have a bad monkey in my chain, which has a so-so buffer but i'm not too bothered, becuase it's quite minimal and apart from the dd20, it's the only buffered bypass pedal I have.

2 Boss pedals have a noticable effect on your tone... even when using humbuckers...

The tone loses a little little bit of volume, gets slightly compressed and the treble gets rounded off.

Thats 2 boss pedals... a CS3 and CE2... tested with a TB looper.

The difference is minimal though.. you gotta play on clean and listen carefully to note it.

I ran the Bad monkey into the DD-6,there was a lot of toneloss when compared to running straight into the amp.The character became dull...thats the best way i can describe it

I have been looking at the Axess buffer, kinda pricey though
