Ok here's mine:

After playing, i dab abit of Stringlife on the GHS treated string cleaning cloth. Then wipe. The cloth would turn black after that. Then i'll apply the stringlife on the strings then store the guitar.

It works very well.. I'm not sure bout normal cloth but the GHS treated string cleaning cloth is very good! Be sure to get one and try!

whoa, picked up this thread just before it dropped off the boards... heh.

you mean no one really bothers about saving their string life? that's odd.

anyways i use graph tech string savers on all my main performance guitars. they make a very significant difference in preserving string life, even if you are a hard hitter (like i am). they do make your tone a bit more midrangey, but its really more pronounced when you strum the guitar unplugged - plugged in it still sounds like the same old axe you've come to love and adore.

it also helps to wipe down your strings after playing, especially after a hot sweaty set.

plus EH strings last really really really long and sound really really good... i used to use D'adds (yuck) and GHS (not bad) but EH strings have really been the best sounding and most reliable strings for me.

I think my strings wear out really fast, what are the string-saver stuff you guys r talking about? Does it make the strings feel different ?

Pier.

Graphtech makes the sound a bit different. They're one of the most well designed replacement saddles for the Fender strats in my opinion.

And they're one of the best things you can upgrade on a Squier/Highway 1 if you hate vintage saddles.

graphtech saddles prevent string breaking. bcos they are extra smooth where the string sits.

Graphtech- got 'em in my strat 8) :

GHS Stringlife is a recommended product, i'm using it- it's a more dedicated preserver than a cleaner per se.

for string cleaning, i'm using the D'Andrea fluid, which costs lesser than the above-mentioned: $5.00

okay, graphtech produces two kinds of saddles... one of which is String Saver and the other is FerraGlide...

Which is better? Apart from looks, do they have any other difference?

EH = Electro-Harmonix

these measures help reduce string breakage and help prolong string life, but in no way will you be free of breaking strings! strings will break, eventually, and sometimes its a bit of a heng-sway affair. occasionally i'll break strings on my graphtech bridge whilst practicing, whilst stretching my strings after changing them, i've even broken freshly changed strings, not more than 30 mins old, on my graph tech equipped guitars. these are the exceptions rather than the rule, but it would do you well to be aware of the limitations of this setup.

the point is, sooner or later strings will break. these measures will definitely help reduce string breakage in a noticable way but it wont eliminate them. don't have too high expectations!

haiz... 30mins is quite long already... i ever string everything properly... then when im cutting the extra string form the peghead... i snip the wrong string... and POP goes my D string... ARGHHH...

currently im using dean markley signature series .9 - 46 and .10 from d'addario (notbad actually)

btw milkmesto how much are the EH strings?

EH strings are available at the wakemeup shop at $7 a pack. not fantastically cheap but very well worth the price. string gauges available are: .009, .010 and .011 in standard 6-string sets.

EH strings available @ Yamaha Tampines Mall too. But only in 0.09 - 0.42, around $7 too, or was it $6.50? Hmmm...

Got a pack, going to try them out. ;)

Be very careful with the D Andrea fluid. I didnt cap the bottle and some of the fluid ran down the side, and as it did, it removed the stuff that was painted onto the side. So you better not get any on your fingerboard or finish, or u might mar your axe...
