Les Paul Mods

eclipze, i thought 0.22 was more common for bridge and 0.15 in the neck. i just got nos PIO caps for my les paul! they really look quite great and overflowing with mojo

yeah ... i mod it to suit my liking :D and i mod the ground cable with caps too ... to lessen the hums
and i found that Star grounding is good .. so all the ground wires r focused to one spot ...

I really think you DON'T have the worst job in the planet. Be thankful where you are~ wherever you are... I mean, you can posts on forums, not slaving right now for that night shift pay grade.

Back to topic, so improved caps, aluminium stop tail, changed tuners, nut, pickups, 50s wiring. Anything else am I missing?

I put .60s on them before I stopped playing with the Paul when I got my Valley Arts. Those .60s and the occasional .70s ate my nut. That's why I put him in the case and never did got to upgrading it because of student allowances and dutiful savings for a Tele in army.

Yes...... It was the Zakk Wylde endorsed strings..................... It caused a big bow on the neck too.

What potentiometers should I drop in?

i've mentioned earlier in the thread. RS guitarworks have really superb pots. their own superpots for volume and CTS pots for tone. jskadiang has these in his R8. i bet he's really diggin them. i'll be ordering mine next month. if you're keen let me know and we can share shipping or something. :)

I AM really digging them! :) I highly recommend them. They may seem relatively steep but the difference between stock pots and caps and the RS ones is very audible.

wow. dude. and the stock pots and caps in ur R8 were alrdy CTS and bumblebee caps. i was initially telling myself doubt it'll make a big difference since u're like replacing something so high quality alrdy

I agree that pots make a big difference...swapped out the cheap jap pots on my edwards for Dimarzio ones and the difference was like...woah.

I find my edwards a bit too bright actually...dosent help that it has a bone nut that actually increases top end although I think the main culprit here are the duncans especially the JB. Its thin and piercing to the extent of being painful.

I cant wait for my new manlius pickups and aluminium stop tail to be installed.... Maybe I'll add some orange drops in too.
