Insousiant

Im a starter, just got the interest to learn the electric guitar. Im a left-handed.

My queries are:
Are left-handed guitars more expensive than normal electric guitars?(recommend any cheap left hands guitars??)
Are there left-handed guitars stocked in shops or do i need to pre-order or something like that?
Where do u think i should get books regarding playing the guitar left handedly.

Thats all from me, thanks for reading and please help me in anyway you could. Help is greatly appreciated.

same priced. only a few lefty models are available. RG370, Jem 555. can't rmbr. and all guitar books are the same, no books for left hander or right hander.

the price depends i think. those models strats mentioned r ibanez...i've seen a lefty samick fairlane bass which costs $50 more than righty units...n a fren of a fren of mine paid more for a lefty pre greg bennet samick strat as well..n the TGM lefty strats cost a gd $95 more than the righty units...

about the books, i've seen some books which say 'leanr electric guitar left-handed'or something like tt..cant rmb exactly. i think the only thing tt's special is tt theu teach u to adapt...

I was surfing in the net and saw this guitar, Cort G250. Anyone here knows if it is sold somewhere here in singapore?

If you do can u please state where and how much it is??

Thanks

Thx for the help. I think i will visit Swee Lee soon if i have the cash. Anyone who got tips for a learning guitarist please feel free to Pm me about it. :)

Thx again!

some lefty models are more expensive than it's right handed ones.
and lefty models are only limited. If you wan a lefty model of one, it's going to cost more definately.

There's a samick strat copy lefty selling at $200 at davis. You can check them out. H-S-S

Some of the lefties here just switch their righty over and play it as left handed. You could consult them

I would be one of them.

Think there're too few lefties around for you, and ordering online is a hassle? Never fear.

One thing you can do is just buy a righty, then handle it Hendrix style. Which is just switching the strings around, and if you're bothered by the tone, the pickups as well. Voila, a lefty.

You have to look at some details though, like the shape of the guitar. Access to the high frets is important to look at. If you do more than play chords, it's probably not advisable to get something like a Les Paul, or even a strat. Get something with double cutaways, like the SG(which I did).

If it's a guitar with a floyd rose or a tremelo that you use frequently though, or you really, really want that Les Paul, I'd suggest you find a lefty guitar.

i'm a lefty but i learn it the right handed way...
yeah...save lots of trouble in haunting for a guitar.

since now i'm used to righty, i'm sticking to it
maybe i would try and learn lefty some other days and experiement with it....

i dont think i want to spend all my efforts doing up a right guitar to be a left ones cause my friend told me all everything about it. Where the strap is going to placed and accessing the frets are a hassle. I think i will just look for a cheap lefty guitar.

Anyway thx for those info. :)

Btw, where is Davis?

dont go swee lee man! They are a rip off! Go peninsular plaza(or shopping center I cant rmb?!?) as there's lotsa guitar stores there and do some price comparison. SV guitars are one of the cheapest around, if u are investing in a branded guitar, eg gibsons.. go find Brendon @ BGW Guitars. He is trustworthy and reliable. I'm sure some of the musicians who are more into this area knows him :)
DO PRICE COMPARISON. IT'S A MUST :P

if you have yet to pick the guitar up i suggest you go right handed like they mentioned above resale value is one point, the other would be the limited choices you would have... anyway picking up the guitar is learning a whole new skill so it really doesnt matter which hand you start out with, plus there are many guitarist out there who plays right hand guitars even though they're left handed

agreed.

I'm left handed, but i learned to play guitar right handed.

Very thankful that i did. There are very little lefthanded guitars out there. Very very little.

The real problem is not the prices of left handed guitars. the real problem is that you only have that handful of guitars to choose from. Imagine everyone getting their dream instruments, while you're stuck with that few models coz they don't produce left handed versions of that beautiful les paul or telecaster you just saw.

Some also say that a left handed person playing guitar right handed may have certain advantages over right handed players. This may or may not be wrong, but i've noticed that my playing style... is kinda different from the way people normally play. Can't explain why... Maybe because i'm left handed. we're special. HAHAHA :p

i m A LEFt handed since starting 15 years back
i started with left hand, be it samick, ibanez,fender... epiphone. cort.. etc

a left handed guitar is not expensive( same price almost for alot of model)
letf handed guitarist not "more " talented than right-hand( it's only atribute to your hardwork to
learn the skills).

msg me at msn privately.. let's discuss this.
and i welcome you n like to guide you along.:)
