There is lacking of local bassist..why?

what is the reason of this lacking?

Only a few sum of bassist which already have a band..

usually there are many drummer and guitarist in forums looking for band to play..but why isn't there much bassist? or is it that not much ppl are interested in playing bass? why?

i think bass is quite fun..

i encourge local people to pick up bass for own experience, hobby or play for a band

i'd say that bass is an easy instrument to pick up but an extremely hard instrument to master.

imagine youths playing boring one note lines when they've just picked up bass. i think they would probably give up after 2 hours. unless, they really have the passion to learn and not say, "i play bass cuz i wanna play the sweet child of mine bass solo". No offence though.

All i can say is that there're plenty of bassists, but few exceptional ones.

I've expericed for a period of time where my band was lacking a bassist and we had difficulties searching for a good one. Never happened to players of other instuments before.

The next rarity are people with THAT vocal quality. You can spend $1 mil training classically, popically what ever. But i can't train rock/metal vocals. Its either u have it or not. If you fake it, you'll have throat cancer by 40.

perhaps playing the bass doesn't gives a person the center of attention?
but if that bass player shoots up a nice bassline, he sure is the center of attention!

:D

I think most impressionable minds thinks that guitar is the superior instrument than the bass. Well, one day,if they are lucky, they will understand the beauty of bass.

Blues and Bass goes quite well together, easy to pick up but bloody tough to master. Also many musicians had a concept that if they can play guitar they can play bass... Alot of passion and effort is needed to play the Bass.

this is what i think,

people dont want to play the bass because,

1) they wanna look good on stage, eg guitar solo, drum solo
2) there are not much songs that people are willing to cover
to make the bassist look good resulting in same issue as reason 1

the reason why im playing the bass, its because i fell in love with bass solo's from jrock bands like dir en grey, l'arc en ciel and im like trying to cover them
as well as its easier to practice at home since my bro plays the guitar and we both can like jam together at times if we're bored so yea...

agree. a bass is a completely different instrument from a guitar.
a bassist is the one who controls the whole mood of the band, assuming the band is sensitive to dynamics.

it leads back to the debate on why bass players lack attention on concerts of music videos (like we had one thread in the bass section). people usually have the idea that the lead singer or guitarist should have the most attention, but little do they know that the bass players is equally important. and to do a solo with the bass is not an easy job!!

i sing, guitar and bass now... somehow, i think it's good for musicians to expand their knowledge in other instruments apart from just the one they're good at.

hi

ha well itsall down to personality actually guitarist and vox are the same animals big egos and love soaking the atttention(no disrespect to all mentioned) drummers are loud brash and usually the warrior of the band whereas bassist are either anything osos whack or headstrong and well very straight(no in the gay sense ps;no disrespect to gays)individuals no joke and serious type ha and well they just care about the music sounding good not really much of prosthetics ha but im jus saying this through wad i have seen la mayb it isnt true its just my piece of mind but well all hese characters are pivotal to the bands success its all down to chemistry

ppl misunderstood bass as 'boring'...
Although i dont play bass but Flea, Victor never ceases to amaze me..

+1 to syed_zack! hahah...that seems to be the pattern in the world eh?

with the musicmans and thunderbirds! playing bass just became sexier! haha
