hi! im just wondering if anyone can give me an introduction on keyboards and stuff cos i simply have zero knowledge about that.. im planning to get a keyboard just for pastime playing, or rather to learn how to play it on my own. like, just for fun.. yeah so i guess i just need a really simple keyboard with just the basic stuffs. any recommendations for that? there're quite a few brands selling keyboards rite? where can i get them? i dont mind 2nd hand too. my budget' arnd 300. shld be enough for a simple keyboard rite?

thanks a lot!

i just checked out some yamaha keyboard reviews and am quite interested in these few..

Yamaha DGX220 Keyboard
Yamaha YPT300 Keyboard
Yamaha PSRE303 Keyboard

i quite like the last 2 with the expressive touch feature. is such a feature important for a beginner? what other features should i be looking out for? btw, does anyone know of other keyboards having the expressive touch feature? any other recommendations for basic beginner keyboards?
and is the keyboard stand included in the package or do i have to purchase that separately? if so, how much does it cost?

thanks a lot! =)

which keyboard? can give us the brand and model?

if i guess, it would be for MIDI communication.

James,

All Yamaha basic keyboards come with USB ports nowadays for "Host Communication" (MIDI) for those who dont have MIDI ports on their computers..

Still Yamahas sound much better than Casio's.... :D

oh i just came across that keyboard so didnt really take note of the model =X anw, wads the MIDI thingy for? i dont think i really need it right? btw does anyone know of any places selling 2nd hand keyboards?

Hey James, the new FAQ section keyboards are excellent! Everything in one neat place. Great idea. Hopefully that will help many others looking at getting a keyboard.

ya, need to arrange all these information in the forum. if you come across any thread which should be included in the FAQ, please let me know.

Are you refering to the Yamaha PSR portasounds? Their "Sweet" voices refers to a collection of sounds that are, well....sweet! Seriously, it simply refers to a collection of sounds within their PSR and DGX series that are of highly quality. Haven't seen the "Cool" voices, but I haven't been looking at portasounds for quite a while. They can call it what they want - all marketing gimmick. What's important is how they sound to you.

oic.. haha i was wondering what they're for. shouldnt be impt for a beginner like me right? btw, do u know of any keyboards with similar features to yamaha PSR E303? i'll prefer one with 76 keys, touch reponse and Y.E.S..
