hey guys,

i'm intendin to use a kaoss pad mini as a stompbox(not a muse fan though)
i heard dat if usin this as a stompbox it will decrease tone
of guitar by half...

is this true?
if it is,wat can i do to solve the problem?
wat are the things dat i shuld look out for?
or basically....help me!

thanx...

i have mentioned quite a number of times on this issue, in the forum. Do a search

the kp is useles as a stompbox coz theres no way to stomp on/off the thing. Once connected in the chain, its has to be always "on". Heh, most people wont lke to have a modulation effect always on "on" in the efect chain

maybe you could use a looper? put the kp in the looper and so you can select whether to bypass it completely or to "on" it.

yup, the truebypass looper will work for the on/off, but the main problem is still on the impedance mismatch. Thats the main reason why kp dont work with geetar signal well, at all

heh, geetar signal when go into the kp, its like riding bicycle to hit ice berg, the only thing that move on the other side of the iceberg, prolly just some air molecule particle..

similarly, geetar signal going into kp, what we hear on the other side(output), just a soft, dull, lifeless sound that cant even be loud enough to play with.

oh man!
so i guess it will not work with a guitar.
i wana use the kp as fill in atmospheric sounds for my band..
(playin like a postrock kinda band)
will i be able to use just the kp alone?
run through an amp?

heh, if you want atmospheric sound and easy logistic, used a laptop.

KP is not a sound source(other than the last 10 patches which does make sound when you touch the panel or when triggering the pre installed loops from the sd card) The rest of the patches(the other 90%) are for effect processing. Meaning you will need to send some sound into it, touch the panel then you get to hear whatever that come out from the output. If you dont send anything in, the thing wont do anything.

i build all my wanky atmospheric sound with multiple delays, reverbs, sony radio receiver, diy mixers, parallel blender and kp3, mini kp and the kaossilator etc. But theres too much tinkering in between the gear to make it cordinate how i want it to be. Its too troublesome for most..

If you wanna atmospheric sound. Either play with reverbs, delays, or simply, use laptop, get a softsynth program, midi controller. You will have an easier time.

actually it's entirely possible to use the mini KP as a stompbox if you really want to. You'll just need a true-bypass looper and a preamp or clean boost to boost the volume to match your guitar signal. although as pathein says there are alternatives that you may find more convenient and cheaper.

another question...
wer can i download free synthesizer software for mac?
bro pathein-im sure you will be able to answer this easily...haha
thanx...

just key in shareware mac soft synth or free soft synth for mac in google, there shud be plenty of pages with those to play with. Iam clueless bout mac

for " not free" and illegal ones, i cant tell you...

oh anyway, other than softsynth, since you hav mac, can make use of garageband in it to do your own atmospheric sound and stuff. Use any recorder, record down surrounding sounds, people talking, street noise etc Put it in garageband, use plenty of vst to change the frequencies, overdubbed and you can have your own backing track for post post till rock become liquid
