Just To Whine: My pedal bag's strap broke.

Hi all,

this is just to share. Today my pedaltrain pro2(softcase) fell on the road right infront of a SBS bus while i was attempting to cross the road. The strap that was supposed to hold the weight of pedaltrain uses a plastic part to adjust the length and this plastic snapped today. I feel that it is a very bad design. In the first place, the strap should not even sling to the side as it will cause more laden weight and way higher tension on the strap.

I am an average-tall fella. I'm 1.83m, imagine the impact the pedals inside suffered. True enuff, when i open it up for jamming, my pedals were in a mess and there were dings on the pedals.. Let's not talk about cosmetic or internal injury my pedals might have suffered. This happened to me while i was just about to cross the road, what if i am already in the middle of the road and cars are on their way? i believe i'll be the master of some nice car accident.

Then i tried searching for those pulling trolley at Carrefour @ Suntec. Forget it. There is no such product and the customer service is bad to the core. I was mislead to a few wrong section. All they'll do is to point a rough direction and when you go back to them after you cant find, they'll give u a pissed expression and again bring u to somewhere nearby and starts to point you to the general direction. I managed to asked for 1 of the staff's name and still wondering should i just leave this alone. Fyi, i've got the same response from 3 staff.

Morale of the story: Believe that luck is not on your side.Buy your trolley before you attempt to go out with the pedaltrain and don't trust the pedaltrain's "PROSTAGEGEAR".

And no, I don't think you should let the matter rest, with regards to Carrefour.

I've had my fair share of bad customer service, and I'm a firm believer that we need to do our part to help them improve, so that they can better serve the rest.

it happened to me too at a not-so-busy roadside in chinatown.
the pedaltrain pro itself is already heavy.
include the pedals,you're gonna lose lots of weight carrying it man.
haha.
same case too.
the sling snapped.
had to carry all the way here and there.
i gave up and cabbed home
went to mustafa centre the next day and bought a luggage trolley.
settled.

Pedaltrain has extremely good customer service and should help you out if you email them. Maybe you should have gotten a hard case instead? The pro one has wheels, too. Gig bags are just inherently flimsier than hard cases.

I have a PTJR with one of the hardshell flight cases and it's really large - about the size of a combo amp but 60% as thick - but sturdy as hell.

Or you could always look on the market for a sturdier padded strap replacement, since they attach to the bag rings with clips.

he got a hardcase from music theme, installed wheels and a handle.

works pretty well now

And to think I was aiming to get a Pedaltrain one day. So I guess... Pedaltrains are overrated?

No they are great pedalboards. It's the softcases that have issues. I would go for the hardcases for the PT-2 or Pro models. The softcases would probably not last long considering the combined weight of the board and pedals.

heh, how different is a softbag kinda enclosure be different from the bag we carry everyday and over period of time if having constant load thats of substantial weight to add stress to the reinforced sewn area?

eventually, wear and tear sure will occur mah, only matter be when is it.

Haha, use those hardcase and we can train our arm strength as well. The relationship between handle joints and arm strength be inversely propotionate

The pedalboards are tough as nails, but I must also add that I find the softcase to be lacking in quality. Firstly it's mad heavy when you compare it to the pedaltrain itself! Secondly no way are those straps ever gonna last in the long run.

I've accepted this and I only carry the softcase via the handle and not the strap.

me too agrees that the softcase's design is disgusting and revolting..
i never use the strap- though im using a jr, but the weight can kill cause the strap is just too thin. i'd expect something of crumpler-quality when im carring something that heavy usually.
as a result, i just use the handle most of the time. even so, the handle is also really uncomfortable... urghhh.

I agree that the softcase's design is bad.
The padding inside is so thin that it won't help protect your pedals if your strap snaps and the whole thing drops on the ground.
My Pod XT Live gigbag has much better padding.

The pedalboard is sturdy but the paint on it doesn't really stick to the aluminium frame.
If there's a scratch to the frame down to its bare metal you can practically peel that layer of paint off to reveal the smooth aluminium underneath.
That's what I noticed when I accidentally scratched my PT-2 with a drill bit when I was trying to drill the holes for the PP2+ mounting brackets.

For soft cases, best is still the affordable $35 Wharfdale (or the non oem Electro Harmonix) soft case bag! it is disposable!

I've decided to give the carrefour guy a break. Asking for his name in that stern manner prob gave him a restless night or 2.

Also, i emailed pedaltrain.According to few kind softies here, i'll be expecting a new strap with metal strap length adjuster. Let's hope for the best scenario. Maybe they've stop doing that as too many people emailed in the same thing?

Lastly, do you guys have any idea where i could buy those foldable trolley?

Keep in mind
-the height, i'm avg-tall and those from the market are really to short for me to use.
-durability, pedaltrain needs that extra urmp!
-comfort and ease of use.
-lightweight itself.. otherwise i would have purchase those junk collector's version! hehe!
-price to usage ratio. Cheap is the goal.
