nyone has any idea how he does his 'scream' effect..?
the onew where her brings the tremolo down den picks on a certain fret or what? i cant get the sound..

Re: joe satriani..

You mean the J.S. Squeal. Yup. Satch has got it. Pinch harmonic on open G, depress the whammy bar, and raise it. Should sound excellent.

satch uses his left fretting hand to depress the bar when he does the scream.... does that change anything..... care to shed some light... ?

His picks with his right hand, so using his left hand to depress the bar simply keeps his right hand free to pick.

No difference whatsoever.

hmm....slightly different from how I know it.

Here's how I saw it done:

1. Depress bar with left hand.
2. pick a pinch harmonic on any string with right hand , while keeping bar depressed.
3. push bar with left hand.

have fun!

Um... lol... That's what he said...

I believe he's asking the difference between using his left hand to manuevre the bar and right hand to pick or vice versa. =/

Or at least that's what I THINK he's asking.

lol dude! it's different! heh...

Pick first = Wwwweeeeuuuuuuuuuuwwwweeeeeeeet sound. High to low to high.

Depress first = wweeeeeeeeeeeet sound. Low to high.

=/

I have no idea what anybody is saying anymore. To quote Dhalif: "Who cares?"

ok i tried but its so difficult to do a pinch harmonic on the strings slackenned like that due to the depressing of the tremolo..using a JS1000here..

Then do it without depressing loh.

Now that you brought up the point... if you depress the tremolo all the way, strings get all slacky, is it even possible to do a pinch harmonic?
