Dude, many thanks to that deal man! I remember i was so kanjiong with the phone call

So far at home, the max i went up to was into the High input...Master about 3, Pre at 5. Found a manageable tone at about Master 2, Pre at near 7 kicked in with my BB....then can have long tresses and leather pants lol. 1 of my favourite was to plug into the Low input with my strat...it just sings beatifully

Great! There you go! Plugging into the lo input makes u turn up the master to match the high input's...which squeezes more juice from the power tubes which start running hotter. Remember that extreme preamp tube distortion is fizzy sounding and extreme poweramp tube distortion is buzzy. The combined extreme distortion of both sections is fuzz. The sweetspot for different kinds of rhythm and lead tones is somewhere between the balancing of the 2 sections. Of cos take note of your pups type and output.

This will be a great journey for yourself as you continue to discover a whole world of tonal possibilties from tube amps. Don't forget to play guitar and make great music along the way!

:D

Oh wow! Now that's an idea Blueark, why din I tink of that!

Hehehehe (tinkin out loud) I can already imagine what our own tube amp fest will include to be ultimate. getting the girls to dress in "tubes" and just like the WWF bikini girls parading the front stage with placards of the next tube amp contender as the boys...and girls in the audience vote for them for the end of the show for the best "tube" girl! nevermind the tubeamps it's the girls in tubes that'l draw the boys girls in for the show. how can i patent this idea arh?

Yes boss....

I still looking for the affordable Eminences though...

Boss, if you on the Tone Tubby, can contact the SVVA - they have Tone Tubbies. I wont join on this one though since they don't offer the Eminences.

Sounds cool!

Does it have a effects loop?

Screw those playing damn batminton there!

Lets see how long a mortal with a racket can withstand the vol of Ed's head.

wow thats a great looking setup... how loud does it get before the pre and power amps get cooking though? Are you able to play it at roomish volumes?

Here's a trick which I discovered through years of tinkering with my Carvin X100B Head and 4x12 Halfstack. I came to learn later that it was atrick used by players including "EJ" himself whom I had a chance meeting with him when he was here earlier. To make the head sound cleaner and tighter sounding use speakers that are of a higher rating than the RMS rating of the amp and switch the output to 4 ohms though the 4x 12 cab is usually wired for 8ohms.

The reverse of switching the head to 16ohms and using speakers of lower wattage like a quad of 25watt speakers in a 4 x12 cab will make the head sound soggier which was a way the old school players used to get that Cream era woman tone which originated from Clapton and Hendrix which is the now famous signature lead tone of EJ.

Welcome to Toneland Ed. Enjoy!

:)

Yes indeed ...just

Nope, this is of the super lead series derivation i believe. Straight ahead crunch and tone, no loops nor any bells and whistles. Plug in, turn it up and enjoy.

At a conservative 50W rating for clean, I could jam without the power tubes cooking yet......so go figure. Bedroom vol yes, unless i was going for the EVH type of crunch it wouldn't be possible other than in daytime.

Is that the 1956SLP or are they different things? Lol...

Dude, already mentioned in the threadstart....its a 2204. And i think its 1959SLP?

hi edo

howda get the eminence speakers? i'm looking for eminence patriot swamp thang. so far only able to buy from ebay, but shipping cost 75USD per speakers. thanx in advance

It was actually a coincidence, Malcolm was getting his Gries wired up and I happened to be looking at getting a cab. So we arranged to ship our stuff over together, cab was sent to Gries and load it with my chosen Eminence speakers. So speakers were technically "boxed" in the cab already and shipped this way.

It was just really a very lucky experience for me. I was searching for a 2x12 cab for a very very long time, not intending to go with the MDF made marshall nor the modern voiced celestions in them. Carvin had a minimum wait of 3 months while Randall wasn't brought in by G77 yet.

Then again, other than the aged & broken in V30s at randolf's place...only the eminence comes close to what i had expected. A perfect match for the 2204, highly recommended brand!

Spend alittle bit, speakers and amps are a big part of your own sound.....
