hey you softies, any tyler user out there who wanna share some love? the tyler community in singapore is really small... any tyler lovers? come on people share your thoughts on this instruments!

Waiting for mine. On my 3rd month, and I'm telling you, keeping the excitement at bay is driving me mad.

To the OP, what Tyler are you using?

Marc, how is the Anderson pickup doing in yours?

Ahh... Dan huff... Rare stuff aye? My Tyler is a studio elite retro hd. Yes u must be asking hd??? Yeap. It's a metallic charcoal finish which they only use on uw. But yeah, mine is like only 2 of that colour? Not sure though... Haha what did u order? Bw2k?

I've just pulled the trigger on a Ice Water prototype and I'm waiting for it to come in! The excitement is killing me!

Haha... Yes the ice water are limited edition. But I had a friend who used the ice water once and he said it didn't sound as good as other tyler's... Maybe if u look into the history of it u will know why haha. But none the less, better than cs uh. Hmm... My dream Tyler is a studio elite hd tobacco ... And with black lining an midboost. It looks good and sound good haha. What bout u guys?

What is it that your friend specifically said about the Ice Water? Sorry, my knowledge of them is only limited to how many are out there and how many versions.

No bro, that's the Line 6 James Tyler Variax. James Tyler is a very well known boutique guitar making from the US!

Well... Haha I dun want to mention any thing specific. But when these ice water were made, I read/heard from some source about... Haha ... Well... He stop production for awhile right? And these ice waters were made for that us dealer before he stopped production... Go infer bro, dun wanna get into trouble a I'm not sure if it's correct too haha.
Yeah we are talking about James Tyler, actually it's not so well know haha! It's either u know it or you don't lol!

I'm not really sure of the timeline on that. From reading on various forums, it seems James has already recovered from his brain surgery when he replaced those Wilikinson VS300(VS50 in the US) with the current Gotoh 510. Has your friend tried the actual unit or perhaps he owned an Ice Water? Or is he just basing his opinion on Jim's ailment history at that time?

There was a batch during the Wilkinson-bridge-era where they had problems of the high E string dropping off the handrolled fretboards which has now been resolved by putting in metal inserts in the neck-body joint to stabilize the neck. Jim has figured necks that he set-up properly in the shop tend to shift in the pocket due to how the shipping companies handled it.

Hey Edgie,

I managed to clinch it from TGP : ) and don't know about the regular Ice Waters but I guess with any guitar, one might appeal to an individual and not to another. Feel, tone and aesthetics are def. subjective. IMO its 40 percent guitar 60 percent fingers ; )
(statistics may vary)

From my limited understanding, JT produced two prototypes. One for Wildwood and one when JT came out with the original finish. The finish on the prototypes seems to be a brighter shad of blue. I guess having JT write "#1 Ice Water" at the back of the headstock helps to?

Pushing the limited edition issue aside, the price was very reasonable and I love the color.

Yeah, I think the owner of your incoming IW is Rog. He's the guy wearing a cowboy hat on Tyler's FB page. I won't say that the blue in the prototypes is brighter but rather more intense/prominent. The subsequent Ice Waters seem to have an almost sky blue color. So actually the prototypes are darker blue. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not sure if Wildwood sold their prototype too.

For those who don't know, there are 3 types of Ice Water: 2 prototypes, 36 Ice Waters (arm cut and no midboost), 12 Ice Water 2k(full-paint/no arm cut with midboost).

To the OP: i saw your other thread about boutique guitar shops here. I respectfully disagree that their prices are ok for Tylers(I don't much about their other brands so no comment on that). It's much cheaper to buy in Hongkong even if you include shipping and tax. For the price they are charging here, all specs being equal, you tend to overspend by at least 2k.

Absolutely agree with the pricing... Brian from Uni Sound is the best! It's very very hard to justify the pricing here unfortunately..
In regards to the color, will give an update when it arrives! :D
