24ko, i'll , riyuu <-- one of my fav

Raison D'etre is nice too ;) but if ya wanna try jaming it, vocals take a fair amoutn of skill to manipulate the voice. ;)

Two Bell silence - Glay
Surivival - Glay
Au revoir - Malice Mizer
Syunikiss - Malice Mizer
I for you - Luna Sea
Love song - Luna Sea
Hurt - Luna Sea

dont think that raison detre hard to sing. its quite easy, if you wanna find song from deg that is quite hard to sing is "sajyo no uta" the rest think its easy. with (exception those shouting and screaming)

I for you - Luna Sea
Love song - Luna Sea
Hurt - Luna Sea

// i for you is good, the other two is simply really boring. if you want luna sea go for songs like

rosier, be awake, end of sorrow, storm, tonight.

luna sea is the easist band to cover. deg goes second.

but I For You is already becoming overused, everybody plays it. the tune gets boring after dissecting it. :?

when u get boring, try to paly in different style. x japan covers "20th century boy" originally by placebo in their own ways. and it sounds infinite better than the original one.

if I FOR YOU getting boring, try add some stuff re-arrange it, dont play the same style as the original, stick the the chords and everything, but add some extra stuff to make it better (or some people make it worst).

but those song are really good for beginner, raison detre is an easy song, u can play that too, but if you cant play raison detre, how u want to play songs like RIYUU, JEALOUS etc etc and worst play song by X Japan like - weekend, rusty nail and stuff (although i still think thos both song is easy).

worst of worst u try to play song like rose of pain, kurenai, sadistic desire or X

(kurenai is a song that impossibly to be played by any of singapore band, i think .. lol)

I have more faith in Singapore bands;

There are quite a few bands and individuals here that can play covers for progressive bands like Dream Theater pretty well.

So, I'm sure there will be people who can play such tunes.

Throw in the piano parts of X songs...i'd be incredibly impressed if anyone could do the octave descending scale a la Yoshiki-style like in Silent Jealousy...

yup, that is why i said, its hard or almost impossible to find any singapore bands that cna play xjapan song perfect. foe e.g rose of pain, silent jealousy, art of life(this is impossible, i dare to say) .. the piano part jsut make it more complicated.

Yo sLapshock and jeifen,

Do not underestimate Singapore Talent over Japan.

I listen to X-JAPAN, Those NARUTO and ANIME OST, Le arch en ciel, Luna Sea, Glay, Penicillin and Oda Kazumasa. I admit that Yoshiki piano playing is above average but dont OVERRATED Him. But there are many Very GOOD Pianists hidden somewhere (might be your neighbour) in Singapore who is comparable to Yoshiki or even Kick his Ass. You haven't seen many Good pianist have you?. Ask a Classical Piano Teacher and he/she will demonstrate to you on how to do that Octave Descending Scale THINGY(These People usually practise scaling every day and Their FINGERING is POWER)

BTW, Any one listen to T-Square? or better known as Tokyo-Square ? They are very POWDERFULL

obviously Yoshiki isnt THE BEST pianist. Those classical pianist or example MAKSIM kick his ass. But im sure he is the best pianist who can play drum very well.

His piano is actually quite normal and surely he cant be listed as the best pianist at all, but wwhats great is how he compose combining those classical with guitar distortion etc etc.

Maksim is good but can he play drum? George winston is good can he play drum? John Pretucci is good can he play drum? Yoshiki is good, but he can play drum.

If yoshiki concentrate on piano alone im sure he can be like maksim or any others because he is a hardworking guy.

i think gackt play piano very well too also tetsuya komura can play it very well. but both cannot play drum as good as yoshiki. LOL

Firstly I'd like to make it clear that I'm no "i no naka no kawazu". For your info, I have heard very good pianists. My former teacher sight-reads Schubert impromptus like she has been playing them for years. I mean like duh she's way better than Yoshiki at playing. But you know what?? Although she is some worldwide famous pianist, she din inspire me the way Yoshiki did..

I think you have to understand that Yoshiki is not a prodigy. My teacher was definitely a prodigy (won various international piano competitions) And I can say for sure that Yoshiki worked as hard, if not harder than prodigies. He, was an average guy who practised day and night, who injured his fingers and wrists practising(what more do you want from an ordinary person??)..and you know what?? He actually rose as high as classical pianists, he performed with the London Philharmonic, symphonic orchestras in Tokyo etc...U think it's normal for a non-prodigy to achieve all this?? And furthermore, he had no formal training. This is the guy who din take any proper lessons and writes Fugues!! ok..fugues!!!!as in J.S. Bach influenced fugues... THis is the guy who didn't have a proper music degree and went on to write COncertos!..get this straight..he wrote a concerto which he performed for the emperor of Japan. (My former teacher could play the piano incredibly well but she din write concertos...)

If you've watched Yoshiki's 2002 Symphonic Concert, the foreign conductor hailed him as a very very talented person. I was quite astounded when i watched his performance, because Yoshiki's piano had really improved tremendously from X days. I could honestly see no difference between a classically-trained concert pianist and Yoshiki when I watched the concert. People in the classical field acknowledge Yoshiki's talents in the classical field, that is a fact.

Please hear his Classical works before commenting. I think what you have heard of his piano in X JAPAN songs are like..the tip of the iceberg. Yoshiki can do much more than just little tricks on the piano...

slapshock..gackt's piano is good for pop standards but it's honestly nowhere near yoshiki's..i dunno abt komuro but i've heard people say he's a keyboard genius..

Yoshiki as a Drummer

Well,

i like Yoshiki as a Musician(Come on He's like the SOUL of X-Japan, i mean he's the Band Leader, The Drummer and Pianist)
But i prefer him as a Drummer rather as a keyboardist. Not many Drummer has the stamina and concentration to handle Songs like X and kurenai (The Rhythm is difficult)and most of X-JAPAN Songs are like above 6 min. He handles double pedal pretty well too.

Salute ...

But the point is that

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE SINGAPORE TALENTS AND BANDS

There are still lot's of undiscovered TALENTS out there in SINGAPORE

But U and I have something in common, we BOTH likes X-JAPAN (Yeah, Hide ROCKS)

I can't totally say I like X Japan...cos I never hear most of their songs...so I'd rather stick to not bothering about anything first...but I agree with Mr_KeyboardMan about undiscovered talents in Singapore and stuff...I've heard some of my friends and other bands jam and perform before...I think they're not too bad...but obviously lose to X Japan...and Dir en grey...but still..they are pretty good...in my opinion of course...
