j bass or p bass?

go try one at guitar 77. I think there is one there.

I used to own a rick which i bought 2nd hand, modded and pretty screwed up.

P/Us where changed bad refret job.

It looks nice on the bench, but it had no case and finding a case was a bastard.

Any I heard that the 4003's aren't that great, so I'd probably source ard E-bay when I've saved the money.

Sucks man.

IMO the neck is the slimmest and the most comfortable one I've EVER felt.

What they say on the ads really rings true.

NOTHING comes close.

I'm just so in the mood of sulking in one corner of my room cuz I missed the oppurtunity of a lifetime to get a rick 4001 with a natural finish for 2000+ as I didn't have the deposit.

Thinking about that feels me with regret for not going to command school and being the poor corpral that I am now.

Than again, I'm stay out and living the 8-5 life now, and I wouldn't have been able to go down if I was some "garang" sergeant in an infantry unit.

:? haiz~~~

yah man~~

I A/Bed them the other day.

better feel and slightly more wood in the sound without the brass bell frets and the nice neck.

Think you pay lyk 3x more for the construction.

This happens to drive me nuts, cuz im deciding if i shld save up for a warwick like i had originally intended to~~

But a problem I dont mind having nonetheless.

Though nothing beats the feel and sound of a rickenbacker 4001 IMO.

You played one before ekin?

I can't remember if i did .. but i think before. If i did i can't really remember the sound and feel. Oh yeah! i remember .. i saw it once at Guitar77 before ... it was some old school bass guitar ..

I have a Sting PBass which uses a vintage singlecoil. Hums like hell, dunno if this is normal...

sting P bass

hi there han2u - do u want to trade your sting P bass for my made in america P bass?

do let me know via sms or PM. thanks.

Actually I am thinking of 'butchering' the Sting bass. Defret/epoxy the maple neck, strip off the finish of the body, change pickup to SD Seymour SCPB2 and bridge to Bad Ass 2. Talk only, so far havent got the guts yet...

don't do that....i am asking...one for one trade.

FENDER precision bass, made in USA, classic vintage specs, still have tags, about 4 yrs and rarely played. c/w protec case.

u just give me the sting bass as is and i give u the complete fender bass package.

sms/call me 93825185 thanks

My friends say "may you not have the guts forever". hahaha.
Aquanaut, your offer is very generous, seriously. But I am just not keen on another PBass, even thou yours is worth much more than my CIJ. I saw a couple of Stings in EBay but shipping from the States is a hassle, somemore must bid. What is it about the Sting bass that you like? For me, I bought purely on its looks, didnt care how it sounded. Now different story la, everything also want to change.

just to offer an alternative view,

to me it doesnt matter if its a j bass or a p bass or a z bass or xxx bass

as long as it is well made, good quality, good sound for the money that you pay. i value a well constructed bass very much. and i'm admittedly a sucker for aesthetics as well, cos i find that it tickles my balls a little.

again if you are not sure what to get, go for versatility and quality. your musical and tone preferences may change as you venture further

well i would say different ppl want different things out of their instrument, while some want a whole lot of sounds from a bass, others would b contented with just the sound that they like... a precision and a jazz is quite different sounding, for a wider range of playability the jazz always wins (as far as i know la), but i just love the P pup tone... so for me, i got the duff mckagan fender =P coz i dun have the cash to have 1 jazz bass AND 1 precision bass :(

i agree with this. just get a versatile bass that is well made and value for money is good enough, don't need to lock yourself down to only a P or J type of sound.

this kind of dilemma are impossible to solve. the only way is to buy both. the only way is to buy ALL
