i don't mind that... i dunno how the basswood body would sound though :( if they made it in ash or alder i'd buy straightaway :P

if you are refering to the Ibanez RD, the RD900 sports a mahogany body...

im actually looking for ritter, but its a long shot.

warwick rockbag .. that's the classic man .. offers you superb protection for you bass. I stuff my Warmoth inside there .. not to mention that my neck is longer than normal neck thus it's a tight fit .. but fits well .. so far no hiccups .. i pray no hiccups at all lah .. =) ..

ritters are nice .. i wanted to get them because of the design .. but after a while .. i thought .. why waste money when i have a rockbag already? .. but if you want swee lee brings in the lower range one .. you've gotta check with them ..

Fretless6 uses an 8-string electric guitar. It looks like a bass. But isn't.

how much do 5 string sets cost btw?

depends lah .. the warwicks i used to buy is around 25 bucks .. the D'addario ones cost around 28 bucks ... rotosounds cost around 30 - 40 .. so very dependent on the brand lah .. =) ..

I must be one of those others that prefer a p bass to a jazz bass.

I love the fact that it really gives off this growl.

My ibanez musician has a P J config. And i love to use the P bass p/u with the tone turned off to get a double bass like sound.

But than again, I'm biased.

Been weaned of a diet of sting, mike dirnt and david laBruyere(joh mayer).

I think Bong's qoute will suffice.
"The jazz can cover 90% of music styles, while the P will get cover at most 50%."

IMO, The P bass is a one trick pony, but what a pony... =)

at the end of the day IMO, both basses are classics in the bass world today. Doesn't matter what bass you end up with .. you can't deny that the P-bass was the one that got it all started and the J-bass was the one the sparked off a musical revolution ..

ow  ..paiseh...
looks v. much like a bass ah...

Ekin, totally agree with you on the basses being classics part.

And it really depends on what you define as a musical revolution, but that's a question I'd rather leave to experts so that at least I'd keep my blood pressure in check

OUT OF TOPIC:
But has anyway tried those warwick rock basses?
I think they have a great sound.
I was shocked when the fella at swee lee introduced them to me.
Happening..

yes! .. i tried them and they are lovely despite being china-made .. their Streamer Standard series is really nice and their Corvette series are amazing.. slim and nice to hang around your shoulders .. should try them out one day .. i think one guy on our forum owns it .. from what i know ..

yah man~~

I A/Bed them the other day.

better feel and slightly more wood in the sound without the brass bell frets and the nice neck.

Think you pay lyk 3x more for the construction.

This happens to drive me nuts, cuz im deciding if i shld save up for a warwick like i had originally intended to~~

But a problem I dont mind having nonetheless.

Though nothing beats the feel and sound of a rickenbacker 4001 IMO.

You played one before ekin?
