is there a pedal to do this?

hi there,

i would like to ask any of u, is there any pedal or anything which alters the key ur playing in, without u needing to change the fingerings?

eg,
i strum in standard tuning G chord, but the pedal changes the key to a Gb or G# chord..

this will allow me to transpose songs on the spot to cater to the vocalist's voice, without actually changing the tunings, nor change the fingerings..

thanks

ohh yeah you're right.ps-5.but the ps-2 can do pitch shifting too, just got that extra delay function

..

capo is such an obvious answer i know,
but then, capo comes in handy only if u wanna raise the key higher up..
also, raising the capo further up will shorten the scale
of the fretboard, which in turn, limits ur playing..

plus, the feel of playing with a capo is different, where vibratos becomes harder cuz the strings get tighter, etc..

ive looked thru all the boss pitch shifters and the digitech hm2..
what i got is that, the create harmonies of the lick u play..
and that is not what im looking for..

im looking for something to allow changing the key of a song, without altering the tone, etc..
can the digitech hm2 and ps5 do that?
or are they made for harmonies only?

i'm quite sure nothings going to get u that. somethings u just have no choice but to transpose by yourself.

pitchshifters are bound to change the tone of ur guitar. i've owned a ps-3 and its quite impossible to do what u're trying to achieve. even simple guitar harmonies aren't very doable

You should try to play it without any artificial aids. Unless your going for a whole song in open chords sound or wanna play open licks in a 'difficult' key then a capo is good.

Learning the Flats and Sharps will help you in the long run.

It's like using a manual shift =]

Yup but you'll find that its quite worth that extra effort. Looks like you're venturing into the "cari makan" path. Always good to gain that knowledge so you can play with anyone, anywhere.

Btw, capo is useful if you're doing mainly rhythm stuff, open chords and such. Not so useful if you're the lead guitarist.

^ u got it right, bro..
ive worked with vocalist who cant really stretch their voice to sing GnR,bonjovi,etc..
sometimes, i would even need to transpose the songs on the spot according to the vocalist mood..it is ok for me to transpose progressions, but when it comes to transposing the exact solos, it sometimes doesnt work really well..

yeah, i guess i will just stick to transposing it manually..
it suck sometimes to play a G-D-Am-C as Gb-Db-Abm-Cb..
there wont be much open strings which in turn decrease the resonance of the guitar..
