Is my signature guitar really signature?

For me, i think pick up is not that expensive and not worth it for a shop to swap it and risk the reputation and get closed down.

You'll be surprised how many shops actually do that . Haha that's why buy from
Credible sources

Bros...
Major problem man..This damn thing indeed has gibson pickup..but it's only the neck pickup!?! i'm gonna be dead..what have i done wrong to swee lee? It's almost a year i bought dat guitar, and dat IS the problem..im damn freaking out rite now..frustated as shit..

So what if it's almost a year? You still have the receipt? Bring it back and ask them! If not, WRITE in to Epiphone with this issue and find out what you can do, quoting your serial number, date of purchase, and place of purchase.

Well the 60ST is from the Epiphone Elitist line of guitars, which is their higher end models. These humbuckers are modelled after the 490r and 498t.. so they should be something similar to the Gibbies.

If you have been playing for a year with that guitar, and you've been loving it why the sudden change?

True.. If you LIKE it, who gives a shit about what model it is SUPPOSED to be?
Chances are you may not even like the pickups that are supposed to be on it..

The noise mentioned can be due to:
Cables
Amp grounding
Input jack
Specific pedals
Powering of pedals

Rarely it is because of pickups.. If epiphone can fake the wood they use for their guitars I'd think that pickups would be a much easier task.. -_-

To be honest, i've only juz started appreciating what's the difference between the neck and bridge pickup sound..u noe like, b4 this u dun even bother to touch the selector..so it's kinda hard for me to actually tell anyone i like the sound the bridge pickup gives..BUT i like wat the neck pickup gives, not bcoz i noe it's a gibson, it's more like b4 i knew it was a gibson, i kind of like this warm sound it gives.

Im gonna call the shop soon, hope they could work something out..im hoping they wont neglect any responsibilities tho

it gives a warm sound because it's a neck pickup. that's what neck pickups do. they give warm sounds.

i don't know if you have a case for getting the store to replace your pickups. Gibson signature guitars usually have Gibson/EMG/Seymour Duncan pickups, but i would hardly call it a stretch to think that Epiphone guitars would have Epiphone pickups.

I called the shop/showroom yesterday and he said he'll check for me..But one thing he went wierd with me was "How can an Epiphone be installed with Gibson pickups?"

Lolz..obviously i mentioned lots of times it was a Backyard Babies signature guitar..

Anyway, has anyone experience such difficult problem with swee lee? i mean, i wanna noe how long it may take them to call u back..Coz im juz worried he didnt note my number right or something, hence cant call me back eventho he got the solution.. Would waiting for 1 week be enough before i try calling them back?

Wow..dat means going down Sims Drive..lol..i hate dat..had done it quite a few times..but i'll try..im simply not convinced with swee lee salesmen services, unless it's the warranty service ppl..they are way kind n polite..=)

are you a teenager? if you don't come off strongly enough, go down with your parents, or an adult friend. don't back down to them. if the catalog states you get a gibson pickup with your guitar, that's what you make sure you get. of course, do be sure that you've got your facts right first before going down.

I never like the people at Sims Drive. You can look for Asmat. I think he is the best peson there to talk to.

^that's really bad advice man. go down to swee lee and demand they change them. it's what you paid for after all.

A lot of manufacturers state either on their websites or the owners manuals something like, "The Manufacturer reserves the right to change the specification without notice."
It's very easy to miss these things as we always think that what's stated in the specs is what we're gonna get.
Just like the fine prints in mobile phones promotions we always see in the newspapers.

If this is the case here then Epiphone do have the rights to change the pickups to something else without prior notice.
It may not sound fair to some but if something like the abovementioned statements exists then we're giving them that rights.
And that goes for many items other than guitars.
We just have to read the fine prints and do more research before buying something.
Let's not jump to conclusions and blaming this or that shop for selling them a guitar with different specs from the one listed by the manufacturer.

That's just my opinion.
Others are very much welcome to disagree.

Cheers.

yeah man..so true...
man..swee lee orders like 234923 guitars every month...
they wouldnt even care to even swap out a pickup to cheat you...
seriously..what can you expect them to do??
trade a new one for you?? but at the same time..open every pickup to check if its of that stated on the site??
sometimes you win some..sometimes you loose some...

Oh, Swee Lee you say? I don't fancy your chances, with or without your parents around.

Save your energy and breath, and get new better pickups. And walk away with a better guitar and a pretty expensive lesson learnt.
