I wud want to hear ur views abt opening up ur veri own jamming room(bedroom studio)...Wif amps, drums, bass, guitars, mics and etc.
Does it worth it?
Your views pls!

First of all, you gotta be sure that it's alright with your folks, and your nieghbours too. Drumsets are LOUD, for one, as in REALLY loud, and if you're gonna be using the area as a jamming studio there wouldn't really be any point in using mesh heads. Also, they take up PLENTY of space, so that's another thing you have to take into consideration.

Guitar amplifiers too, sound like crap if you've got a small bedroom, trust me. (that is of course, unless you turn the sound down low.) You have to have a room thats relatively spacious or you're just gonna sound like you're ready to kill someone whenever you rock out on your axes. :P

Also you have to take into account the flooring of the room. You don't want to go damaging your folks nice parquet/hardwood floor by running around on it and filling it with scratches would you? Besides, drums sound horrible on wooden floors, but of course, this can be remedied with a carpet.

Lastly, if you're gonna power all that fine equipment, you';re gonna need just that, power. You have to ensure that you have enough power supply points in the room to run all that.

Aside from all this, theres also the problem of cost. But you seem to have that pretty much figured out.

So yea, take all these factors into consideration, and make your choice.

I have my vote on transforming my bedroom into a studio. In fact, there already has been talks between about this with my parents and with the contractors. Just a matter of "when".

About the loudness issue, chances are an average bedroom size isn't bigger than the average jamming studio. Proper soundproofing and flooring will definitely cut out a great deal of noise, not completely, but to a large extent. Guitar amplifiers, tubes especially, even in a jam studio, what are the chances of anyone turning it to saturation point? A better alternative, use solid state amplifiers, have a good PA system down, mic up those amps so you can have a good balance in the sound. Then again, there isn't a need to play loud everytime. Good control of volume, that includes controlled hitting of the drums, can really serve to be a pleasurable experience.

Ultimately, you can't run away from the cost of it all, the soundproofing plus equipment involved. Then you have the issue with your parents to tackle. Supportive parents are a definite plus.

what i'm really particular abt is the sound system and the room condition. is there any method to make the sound level abit lower?

i sleep everywhere i want to....most of the time wud be outside at the living room!

i noe dat u can controlled it but den, wat i mean by is tat the wall and door and windows. i do see some jamming room have a special wall, and doors. the put some thing like cushion thingy at the door. abt the wall it is like some how a carpet....any idea abt tat?

presume u live in some private house.

floor - carpet

walls - patitions (u may need 2 one quater inch piece, top piece need some

holes to 'breath' so that sounds will b absord and 'bounce' back out)

ceiling - yeah, better to patition it too (same as above)

windows - double thick glasses and sealer on the side all round

door - whole solid piece best with side rubber all round so that when u close it, it'll kinda suck in with the door frame.

with all the above, sud b enuff to soundproof it cos the sounds will 'bounce' back within

yes, lotsa power points and air-conditional ...

:) just my 2 cent

Couch beds, ya know, the sort that would just fold a bed out? And they'd serve as seats for extra audiences etc.

best way to put dis is, room within a room.
if money is no object den go ahead and turn it into a studio.
uve got lots of options here. maybe u could *gasp* direct with the guitars and bass to a mixer and outs to a headphone amp. which in turn could go to th rest of your band members. drum wise, edrums have come a long way. dont put them down juz yet. of course it all depends on preference.
it might be good to control how loud everything is as well. dun wanna damage my ears before im 40 hehe.
my advise is, read up cost wise, and hopefully others have posted better info unlike mine
haha
cheers

My bedroom is my bedroom & i'll nvr change it to anything else except to showcase my pride & ego. What i'm willing to do is steal my lil sister's room & get it changed into a mini studio w/ mixers, a pc, amplification, n stuff like tht. Professional sound-proofing & a finishing touch to the layout & flooring would cost a few thousand bucks more bt WHO GIVES A F*CK ABT NEIGHBORS!

Hahahahaha. Honestly, neighbours can be a real bitch, especially if they have kids learning the piano or a violin. Not that i have anything against these guys but JEEZ... it's far worse than listening to a guitarist noodle around with his guitar.

I don't have a neighbour like that. But i do have a SISTER who happens to play BOTH the piano and viola. And i swear she keeps repeating her pieces until it gets onto your nerves. Actually a soundproof studio will be good here. Dump her in there and i'll have peace.
