Irritating noise

Guys i just came back from a bad jamming session. K firstly i brought my pedalcase along and i plugged it to the amp. Sounds ok if its clean but when i turn on my distortion or overdrive pedals, there is the "eeeee" sound and it gets me really fed up. I changed the eq on the amp and on the pedals but the "eeee" sound still remains. Is there anything that i can do or something that i can buy to stop the sound? btw i jammed at fourtones and im using a samick guitar with humbucker pickups. Pls help me thx. :???:

yea probably feedback. i was standing far frm the amp so that wasnt the prob. when i put the gain to 3 and above the sound starts. If i put the gain too low the sound becomes too soft.... So i dunno if its the gain or there is other probs.

cheap pups are notoriously prone to feedback at high gain .. try lowering your onboard guitar master volume and standing a bit furter from your amp

sorry to hijack youre thread cos i wont want to create another likely same thread.when i switched my ds-1.that feedback just get irritatings.the clean sounds fine.i'm using epi lp.isit just the gadget or what?i was standing far from the amp and not facing it.it i were to practice at home.the feedback isnt that much.only when at jamming sessions.

get a noise surpressor? works well with my board. i stack a krank distortion with an OCD :D quiet as hell even at a gig

a noise surpressor? hell i just got a noise gate yesterday and the sound still exists but lesser than before.. any idea why? maybe wiring problem ah?

either the pickups arent good or the pedal's voltage is high or u can state what amp wha tpickups what pedal u were using would be better
or maybe cables use werent good

There is such a thing called punctuations. Amazing right? I suggest you learn it!

the jamming studio consist of marshall amps.at beatmerchants.

Ahh.. My band faced similar problems at the studio..
I for one had to use this Behringer V-tone amp.. I call it the tone killer!
Never knew my pedals and guitar sounded so bad.. Lol..
Their AVTs need to be maintained constantly.. Most are close to dying..

Pot your pickups

yea man! i have a sammick guitar too with humbuckers . i potted the lovelovelovelovelovelovelove pickups real hard man! bought some candle wax and dipped that shit in. now works perfect. if your guitar is quite higher end i recommend other kind of wax i bought lousy ones but it worked fine :P

Feedback is maximised when:

- Guitar is too near amplifier (facing it)
- Guitar has low-end pickups
- Guitar is very near microphone

No joke about the microphone, apparently guitarists who also sing vocals use microphones designed for that purpose. Normal microphones would cause plenty of feedback.
