hi friends 8)

i thought that it'd be good to share some stuff that we've come across/ tried which are not expensive but sure heck is good. i think this will help those who are new to the electric guitar (& its associated accessories) who are gear hunting on a budget. there's nothing wrong with getting cheap stuf, especially when some of them perform beyond the asking price.

i've recently come across this Cort M200 ( list price of not even $400, pic below) which really impresses me a lot in terms of playability & tone (thumbs up!!). it just goes to show that many of the good items are simply overlooked by us, who are too preoccupied with brand names & acceptable looks. hope you people have something similar to share- guitars/ bass/ amps/ FXs- do share them here!

ah definitely- just have to plug it into several amps to convince myself that it's that good... i had a hard time believeing :smt048

Ibanez AM73

A sweet guitar for jazz and blues genre. Listed for $600 at sweelee (so do your math how much the final price at last week's sweelee 40% ibanez sale)

Finish is excellent. Default pickup I must say very good (especially for its price), although a bit disappointing if you use it to play palm muting chugga-chugga type of song (but hey, isn't an RG more suitable for you if you play those kind of song?) The sustain is quite good.

Playability wise, it's excellent. The neck is quite comfortable to my hand (i'm average size asian guy) and the action is quite low out of the box.

Complain: one normally expect more accoustic response from a semi/full hollow when the guitar is unplugged. This one I feel a bit lacking. But with the size (smaller than ES355), and especially the price, I should not complain at all

i'd add the whole Artcore series in because they are fantastic semi/ hollow body units for the asking price...

fans of hard distortion, this diminutive pedal is a down-right aggressor, when it first debuted, it wasn't even $100...

so now it's???

Cort have always had pretty high quality parts on them.
Wilkinson trems, Duncan pups... the sad thing is people shun them because of the un-glam brand name and the country it is manufactured in... :(

hey, a few greats use cort. neil zaza uses cort. so does hiram bullock, he played with prince, and jaco pastorius. check his playing in the trio setting with jaco, "live in new york city" vol 1 and 2.

but he is not using cort then.
