I'm starting soon...

Looks like a superstrat shape, so i'm probably guessing its an ibanez.. can't tell until i look at the headstock though :|.

ok. But if I don't find it, then which of my original 3 should I choose?
(Or, which of them is best suited for that song?)

Still looking for an answer lol.

Well, its all up to preference. Although i wouldn't recommend getting a strat if you play metal, unless its a fat strat (Humbucker in the bridge). I don't think you can really go wrong with a SG.. and if you don't mind Les Pauls, hub4thailand is selling a $1.4k gibby les paul studio wine red.. check with him if he's still selling if you're interested.

Cheers.

EDIT: neat info here from wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Toro - uses LP's with duncan pickups.. you might wanna consider that too.

+1 to guitar141. Some may disagree with me, but if you ask me, a standard SSS stratocaster just doesn't cut it for heavy distortion stuff. But a HSS stratocaster is very versatile, you get humbuckers and singlecoils in the same guitar, I'd go for a HSS stratocaster if I were you.

Oh and for Fenders at kickass prices, go find Brendon, he brings in cool stuff! http://www.bgwguitars.com/index.html

My $0.02.

Well, as mentioned in the first post, I'm only getting a guitar in october, so I hope the thing stays in stock :p

In the meantime, I'll go check out the SG...

I still think the strat is the most versatile beginner's guitar which has a good feel. You just have to try it out. It is also very good for custom modding...

2k budget for beginner!! omg...some lucky guy u huh..give u some advice, how abt buying a beginner package first, and save the rest of the money for the time being..

Here goes.. correct me if im wrong..hee hee

below is the more balanced package for beginners everything should be less den 1K if u buy all brand new:
1.)squier strat or epip sg/Lp <<cheap but not crappy..wont spoil unless u drop ur guitar as often as u drop ur handphone..lol
2.)small multi effects(zoom, korg)<<dun buy stomp boxes first,so u can try many types of effects and understand them
3.)any 15watt-30watt practice amp (marshall,laney,orange,vox)

when u know more about guitar, amps, effects, pickups, modding ,marshall MG series sucks n stuff like the big bros who gave u suggestions den u buy the real deal .. u like greenday and saosin right den buy gibson LP.. or by den u think greenday is boring and satriani or vai is cool den u buy ibanez JEM77V or JS series.. good luck bro.. u will not regret taking up guitar!!!!!!Cheers!! :)

i say to each his own.
just get something good, which your comfortable with. no use buying something superb but you feel awkward playing it.

ever thought of getting high-end schecters or washburn?

Anyone know where I can get a Gison Les Paul (New) or how much one will cost?

Anyway, I'm getting a Marshal amp, $215, Distortion and features added in, head phone jack, 15 watt :D

Blackwood Guitars at Bras Basar brings in some Gibsons.
Guitar77 as well. I'm not very sure if the white one i saw is a Melody Maker. but it's a beauty nonetheless. saw them last saturday.

why not get Gibson Supreme ?

i still suggest u should consider schecter's and washburn's high ends like what Aki S. Ian had said.

Well, I like Green Day and Saosin and both use the Les Paul, so I'm thinking of getting one...

The only thing I'm afraid of is that my budget is $2000, and a Les Paul might blowtorch a hole in my wallet (Along with the contents)...

A friend of mine got a Gibson Les Paul Special II from Swee Lee at $3600, so I'm afraid a Les Paul might be out of my budget :p
