If you bought a really really expensive guitar...

i definitely do/would..unless it's one of those 10k+ guitars. it's okay to dent an expensive guitar if you're not going to sell it off..flaws give guitars character man.

Seen billy joes from greenday?

bloody industrial tape and everything holding it together. hes had it for aaages and still performs with it.

I cant find a picture but i think its a strat. i've got it in a magzine. might scan it or something.

edit: yep pale blue strat with old stickers and everything.

well,u're gd..can afford something decent as 1st guitar...but if ur 1st guitar is something like TGM(no insult to TGM),i doubt u'll wanna spend loads of cash modding it right?n i doubt u'll want to treat it like billy joe treats his 'infamous blue' right(if it even stays with u tt long)?
an example:steve vai.his 1st guitar was a $5 teisco(i think,same as eddie van halen)...i doubt it's even with him now..much less in his care...

so i think it'll be great if we buy at least decent guitars(dont need to be ex) as our 1st guitars so tt we can treat like out babies after having it 4 a looong time...

i'ma SMASH!

SMASHSMASHSMASHSMASHSMASH!!! SMASH!!!!

HULK SMASH!!!

huh? as long as u don't do that can liao la... treat ur guitars with care... cosmetic's 're secondary... tone and playability comes 1st...

my first was a tgm strat copy, which i later sold to a friend for 12 bucks lol. but it was trashed up though..had a bad diy paintjob, ultra rusty strings and who knows what problems.

i'll forever miss my ibanez rg580sol ... and my prs ce24. both in very good hands now. er..... both also played until i had to sell them quite cheaply... cus of the "wear" on the bodies.

my strat is also showing signs of wear... tarnish and stuff... and it just looks so beautiful to me... cus the damage is the result of my sweat corroding my guitar... kinda like a bonding thing between me and the guitar...

my luke also taking some abuse.... but i must say it holds up very well to rough handling... kudos to musicman. really tough guitars. my next axe most prob from them ...

Actually i find wear and tear is quite attractive in an instrument ~

got dat "Vintage" look ...
like ... it's good enough to be used soo often .. ~

Brand new is nice ...
but ... there's something abt a seasoned guitar dat just ...
like ... cannot explain la ... ~

if the wear & tear is from you, then it's pretty much worth it IMO. if you are paying for someone else's undoing, then it's something to think about...

I was going to say this!
I like the feeling that a seasoned guitar (by me) gives me.

Yeah me too....I feel the same way too........
Liked the "season" n "shiok" feeling on the guitar esp the finger board n at the back of the neck.
Guitars, equipments n gears r meant to be used. So utilised fully.

woa..12 bucks!!!if i had a guitar tt cost me tt price maybe i'll keep it n treasure it as it brings back memories tt i bought it at a price tt can make ppl jealous...hehe...

Personally, I reached a stage where I won't pay extra for cosmetic features such as a 5A maple top or some fanciful inlay as an extra. I take good care of my guitars. But I definetely do not baby them. Guitars are meant to be played not admired or for showing off. 8)

some of my female friend called me crazy when i told them i don't mind spending 3K on a guitar ..

well .. they will never understand that obession with guitars right softies?? ..

anyway .. i thin expensive guitars with that vintage look is nice .. my jazz bass has that look .. !!! .. woot! .. it's 13 years old already and counting ..

hmmmm it wasn't easy :( ... i worked really hard to get that guitar ... but its worth the wait and money ... so yup the *wait* and the many other (luxurious) i put on hold during that time to get her makes it special for me  ... so yup guys try to get a good reasonable 1st guitar so u no need to go on upgrading ur parts ... or GASin for another as soon as u get ur first ...

2cents

but if u're playing a seasoned guitar(whether it's u or previous owner who causes the wear n tear) with fretwear i dont think it feels gd right?

My friend just showed me with a beaming face her $800 Hooch handbag. She was such a happy trooper when she flashed that made-in-China bag to me. I'll be one too when I'll show her my made-in-China-and-assembled-in-US Les Pauls too...

goodness.....how can anyone play anything so cheapo like a $2k guitar??!!
They R no good for anything but smashing at the end of the show. 8)
Any real musician knows you neeed to spend 10 times more 2 get good guitar.

expensive is relative
good sound is subjective

play what you can afford and play what you makes good msuic to U.

forget about what other ppl do
