Ibanezrules.com has a FAKES page now...

Wow! The PRS clone looks extremely sweet and it even comes with the flying dove inlays. Amazing piece of work. If only they could do without the design on the headstock.

You don't have to look far to find these fakes, ranking sports has them in stock. I was disgusted when I saw them. They have them at peninsula and bras barsah.

FAKE PGMS AND JEMS.

As far as those prs clones go, I believe G77 had them in stock at one point. Played a couple of them, killer...really killer.

yeah i tried those custom made prs look alikes too abt two months back or sth at G77!
haha..
thats some quality stuff they make man..
im saving for mine :D

Can we stop being kids and oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over pictures?

Go try it out then decide. Please bring an experienced guitarist along too.

I am not convinced that some cheap rip off, will be any better than the real deal.

Think of the number of fake strats out there. ;)

Pier.

You have to be careful in your insinuations here. Fakes or counterfiets means that the product in question carry the same brand & logo (eg. Ibanez), infringment of patents (eg. Fender headstock shape).

At best we can call them asthetics copies. Which means the outlook of the guitar have some similar features.

The JEM & PGM copies at ranking brand is "SCORPION", priced at $280 at peni. For a floyd rose liscenced equipped guitar this is considered very reasonable pricing.

It's anybody rights to choose buying between a $3k and a $300 guitar, no crime there. But it's also ok to have your own biased view. Thus I am only making my point here. Peace 8)

I think somewhere along the thread people got confused.

I assumed that the china bought "fake" JEM meant that it carried the Ibanez logo, the same way we find fake LV wallets.

The way SoulJah used the term, he meant lookalikes, but they as they did not have the Ibanez logo on them, I would not call them fakes, maybe "imitations" or "copies" would be a better word.

Example:
Gibson copy: we think of burnys and tokais
Gibson fake: we think of a guitar that is not a gibson, but puts the logo on the headstock.

Licensed means you have the legal right to copy.

Be careful how the terms are used.

Yes that's right.

I guess the distinction between fake versus copy really has to do with an infringement of trademarks in this case the headstock logo.
