Yup, I'm playing with the pups for awhile. But I really like Petrucci's tone, so maybe the pups will bring me closer to there despite the guitar having a mahogany body. 8)

That's the RG2820, one of the best RGs Prestige in recent years, though I'm not a very vine person. Prefer my fretboard "tidy". :smt003

Word of advice man...
The cosmo finish on the trem is Ibanez's weakest finish... it will rub off very fast and the exposed metal can corrode/bubble quickly.

While the corrosion wouldn't affect reliability or playability, its an eye sore.

ALWAYS, wipe down your guitar after playing. Try to use a bit of light guitar polish like Dunlop 65, which wouldn't take off more Cosmo finish. Wipe the trem good and keep it dry. It will look nice, longer.

Nope... no way. Unless you are talking about getting it recoated with stuff like Power coating or Gold/Chrome plating.

I've heard of motorcycle shops that do power coating (very durable apparently) in the USA... from jemsite of course. And its good, althought the coating does make every coated part slightly larger.

And besides, even if its brand new, the Cosmo will rub off in a matter of days/weeks. No way around it.

the RG2820 is a J Custom if I'm not wrong... I will bet you that ain't no more available esp since it has the Vine of Life Inlay.

I setup 1 before... SWEET looker.

Btw, lifehouse, there's a guy selling an RG550 on yahoo auctions singapore... its worth checking out... try for $650 - $700... looks like in good condition and it has the almighty Edge trem.

The RG2820 isn't a J custom. I had one before I sold it. The quality is FAR FAR FAR from a J-custom. Play a J-custom and you would know what I mean. Even the 2005 J-customs are nothing compared to the ones before that. The pre-2005 customs have flamed maple binding on the neck, not those now. If you can, go for a J-custom that is pre-2005. Trust me..I've tried both before.
