Ibanez RG Prestige Suggestions

1.8k? Hmmm... thats pretty steep. But if the axe is well setup and its MINT... I would try to haggle it down a bit then grab it.

Lo Pro Edge man!!! LO PRO EDGE!!!! 8)

Actually I've found a 2nd hand RG with Air Norton and Steve special. It's a prestige. Very likely to close the deal if the condition is ok.

Lifehouse: Good luck in your purchase and enjoy your new axe! :D

Drewgie: glad to see another 1550 owner here hehe....if i'm not wrong subbie has 1....another would be Praetorian but he's MIA for quite some time tho.

Dunno if im too late, but i would strongly suggest getting an RG prestige with Lo pro edge ... Don't get the newer RG prestiges cause they use edge pro ... The lo pro trem is superior .. not in production ready .. even J customs starting to be fitted with edge pro trems ..

as much as the lo pro edge trems are revered by ibanez enthusiasts, the new edge pro bridge isn't as bad as you made it out to be.

Its actually all about feel. How smooth the trem is.

For Ibanez, the smoothest is still the original Edge. Then Lo Pro Edge, then Edge Pro.

Another thing is reliability... you still see Ibanez guitars with Edges from back in the early 90s ... same for the Lo Pro... its got repute. The Edge Pro is still relatively new.

And I can't stand the fact that most Edge Pros are cosmo coloured. The cosmo finish rubs off the fastest, its the weakest finish. Why can't more Chrome Edge pros (ala JS1200) or Black Edge Pros be made?!

yeah that's what i think too. I saw a J-custom with Edge Pro silver or steal color in one of the Japanese guitar site. Very beautiful on pupple body.

superiority here is subjective. i own the Edge/ Lo-Pro Edge/ Edge Pro equipped Ibanez guitars & they are fine, functional, reliable hardware units.

the Edge Pro has rounded components for picking hand comfort, which is one-up against the Edge/ Edge Pro units. this is just one aspect of design revision which makes one version more favoured than the other.

generally, IMO, if you avoid the TRS/ ILT models, you are doing fine 8)

Small update: I got a RG3120 second hand. It's the older version with PAF Pro and Tone Zone. 2005's model are equipped with Dimarzio IBZ I think. Think I'll be swapping it with Air Norton and Steve's Special. It was in very mint condition (9/10) only drawback was the cosmo finish fading on the trem. I think I got a very good deal at $1350. :smt003

EXCELLENT. Lo Pro Edge. neck thru. Hahaha... 1350! MAN.

Why you wanna swap out the pups? ;) Play with them for a while... heh.
