I tried doing this over the weekend. The first version fumbled badly. The tone was off, the playing was rushed, and the whole feel of the song was wrong. After a few trial and errors, I managed to get a decent enough tone on the PODXTLive.

This was a really scary one to do. Trying to replicate his feel and dynamics of the initial part took forever. Then the song was supposed to have a build up to a climax. I think I screwed that bit up. I have never encountered a song which took so much strength to squeeze the notes out of a guitar.

After 2 tried, I managed to get a nice enough version to satisfy myself. But once I listen to this side by side with the original, I just want to stop playing my guitar...

And he did this in ONE take???? Damn!

Thanks. I didn't understand the fuss initially either... Until I tried playing it. The amount of control you need to have over your guitar to do this was ridiculous. I didn't realise how much it took until I did this one. My Little Wing cover was easy compared to this. The Europa one wasn't that hard either... That one took a lot of time to phrase a nice solo at the end more or less. But this one... It's like nothing except control. Want to break out, but cannot. Very humbling track to do...

IMO, as much as I am a Clapton fan, he ruined that song... His fiery playing wasn't suited for tender lazy mood of the track. Haiz...
