*phew*

Just thought I'd share this: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6732623

Been dying to do this. My own take on Little Wing. Took me a while to get it done, and I took about 4 hours to actually lay down the stuff. It's a mix and match of the parts I liked in various versions I've heard. Backing track was available from GuitarBT forums (if posting this is inappropriate, lemme know)

Having to play a totally different melody over 6 times of repeated chords was not exactly as easy as I thought. I thought I could just jam my way through. Uh Uh... Nope. Every stanza had to make sense. Painful process that really tested my phrasing. Had to try VERY HARD not to repeat myself.

What I ended up with was pretty much a melting pot of many of the various guitarists I admire, and the styles of playing I thought was suitable for a track like this...
Let me know what you guys think!

(Excuse the sloppy playing hor...)

Guitar used was an EBMM Silhouette Special with SSS Config. and CS69s...

Nice stuff! I enjoyed listening to it... Very controlled...
But, the backing track a bit of a let down, especially the drums fill bit...

Bro, put in the Open Mic section la. :D

Yeah, the backing drum track abit err...

But other than that... FWAH!

The backing track is midi generated, I think... Not done by me. I wish it was a bit more organic... Heh.

Not so gian to put in open mic lah... Just wanted to share here, especially cos it's not an original composition...

Funny thing is, this take on a popular song has hit #9 on the Blues Rock charts on Soundclick... My highest rating so far... Amongst my other more original takes...

So much for promoting originality... Hahahahahaha...

I've heard some pretty good midi generated drums leh :?

But that is seriously besides the point, heh. Your playing still... FWAH!

I guess cos people know the song so they want to hear how you play it.

Thanks man... It was late at night. I'd like to think I've tried really hard to do this, and I should be happy with the results. So far, I've not heard anything I don't quite like yet. (these things take time to sink in...) If I could play like ShredCow, I'd probably turn in something more impressive. :p

Problem is, I think I do need to remix it again, cos I just realised some of the parts are not properly syncopated. I think I missed some bits by a few milisecs when I mixed the rhythms in. Oops...

Yeah... I think most people like familiarity. But it also goes to show how good your original piece must be before ppl bite. Hmm... Not easy man...

i love the tone man!got the SRV-ness in there.

hahah i did a short clip using my mobile phone recently(how coincidental), just anyhow whack little wing also.Pardon my boxer shorts, heheh

It's 3 single coils, and a set of Fender Custom Shop 69s at that... Sure have the same chime and sparkle mah... What I was surprised to find out was that the PODXTLive could actually capture it! Hahahahahaha... And I was even happier with that heavy driven tone on the chorus sections... Those singles sounded very big...

Wah... your tone ah... sibei juey reverb sia... hahahaha... But I like the attack of your clean tone. I got to hit very hard to get that on mine. You using 11s? or 12s? What's your amp? Can still get so much attack wif so much reverb quite difficult.

oh no wonder, custom shop...I could have sworn there was a fender somewhere in there...heheh, dun blaspheme man, PODXTLive able to capture the twang of the fender?*closes ears with 2 hands and runs away singing lalalalalala*

hahah, i'm using 10's only, but yeah maybe i hit the strings kinda hard unconsciously. The amp is a Roland Jazz chorus 60, with a bit of *sigh* reverb on also.PLUS my Boss RV-3 which I turned on also.sheesh

The reverb heheh, just received the boss Rv-3 in the mail that day, still dunno how to use la that time, just did this recording for fun only, forgot I was wearing boxers somemore. sigh.

Oh well, we should definitely jam one day, i promise I won't bring the RV-3. we could exchange ideas, i love improvisional solos done on the spot with the help from a tinny bit of heineken.

cheers

Aiyah... Jazz Chorus??? No wonder lah! Hahahahaha...

For home recordings, nothing beats a POD lah... easiest to use with best results without having to change all that equipment. But sometimes, a bit of frequency is lost during the USB transfer... I'm actually surprised how well this one turned out.

Let's do that jam someday man... Beer or no beer, I'm fine.
