sorry to ressurect an old thread but..

on thursday i went to swee lee to buy a guitar..i saw the price of the guitar..650..but they didnt have the colour i want.the nice malay dude there told explained tt they only took 1 colour..and the swee lee at sims drive has it..so i asked him "it will be the same price right?650?" he sed yes...

now yesterday i went all the way to sims drive juz to get the guitar.the indian guy told me he wud only bring it up if i paid for it first. :roll: ok...fine with me since i oredi intended on getting it..den i asked abt the price..he quoted me 850..and after discount and gst it was about 714..

i told him the bras basah outlet had it for 650..he called the other branch..bla bla bla..and i was told the other branch made a mistake and the price IS 850..or smth like tt..


and i've been to swee lee MANY times..and the price has always been 650.and on wednesday,i called swee lee bras basah to ask for the price of the 3 guitars and the availability..the guy who answered my call seemed to have no intention of answering my queries.he asked for my name and contact number and sed he wud get back to me..and which he never did..

anyone else encountered such bullshit from swee lee??

kid_slacker, I went to Swee Lee Sims Drive a couple of days ago, and my experience is opposite of yours, perhaps with the same guy (an Indian chap). The prices he quoted me were from the price tags, minus the standard discount, and he let me try a couple of guitars without me asking (as well as several other customers there ... he was flitting between us because we were trying different ones, and I guess it takes time). He was very patient, he plugged them into an amp, tuned the guitars, etc ... and since I'm such a noob who only knows 1 miserable chord, he even played a couple of riffs to show me what the guitars were capable of.

I went in intending to buy a particular model, but good salesman that he was, he almost managed to change my decision to one that's 3.5X the price. Still haven't made my decision, but darn tempted ... that higher-end one was really sweet, could tell the diff as we were switching between the guitars on the same amp settings. And the lower-end one has good reviews on the net as well ...

Sigh.

uhm....sorry to bring up the topic about citymusic again...

ive been eyeing the zoom g2.1u guitar effects pedal for a while already and ive been thinking of heading down there to try it out. i havent been able to hear any sound samples of it so yeah.

will i get the same sh*tty treatment? or has the service improved abit? i just wanna keep trying it...

why cant they adopt a friendlier service like luthermusic. the boss is a really nice guy. let me try the expensive telecaster as long as i wanted and even gave me a strap to try on too.
