got a question

doing vibrato

do you

1) move ur wrist , minimum finger movement

2) use finger only ( use finger push up and down )

3) both, same time / diff time diff but both can use

or

4) "shake" ur hand (violently) while fretting the note?

or anihow also can?

thx for answering (:

errr im not entirely sure but i THINK you should be moving ure wrist... like swinging ure wrist and little finger movement. im not entirely sure.

i think u want u can swing ure entire body left and right, sure got good vibrato. but the best is still to follow john mayer's way of doing it, must make orgasmic faces when doing vibrato

"twist" your finger clockwise and anticlockwise.
actually i dont know what kind of advice is that...

anyhow do sure cannot.

I use a combination of wrist and fingers movement, but more wrist movement.

It so difficult especially if use only fingers for bend+vibrato at the same time. Shaking also sound mechanical and might not sound smooth..

Rotating motion vibrato can be seen with Vai style but i think that quite advance.

i find that movement vaguely familiar if you knoe what i mean

hahaha

so no solid advice still

jux starting out on guits so nid some spoonfeeding

point 1 out which is best

internet isnt realli that reliable is it

either wae its a forum

so im sure there are many who could point me a direction

shouldnt use too much finger, its a combination of finger and wrist movement but the more "correct" way (if there is a correct way) is using the movement of your wrist to vibrate/bend strings. ie you use the contact point between your hand and the neck as the pivot and move your wrist. if that made sense =/

This video is pretty decent to answer your question.

Do take note on his thumb placement. It's important to note when the thumb is behind the fretboard like a classical grip, and when the thumb is on top anchoring onto the fretboard (rock grip)

As for the motion, i think he explains it pretty clearly.

Hope it's useful for you guys.
