I don't know how to really explain to you here lah.
:mrgreen:
See!! That's what I mean.. and that's why i started the whole vocal hangout... o_o
I think there's a bit of a confusion in asking for help in its higer range, and trying to hit the falsetto.. go easy on the theory tips, they're good but I don't think the poster has any idea what you guys are talking about. LOL
If the poster's actually asking for a falsetto, then the technique is actually quite the opposite of open throat, and less tasking / faster to learn..
My only suggestion right now is to keep trying along with the song, which is FGL's technique.. in layman's terms, your range hasn't expanded into that "section" yet, so constant practice to try "hit" the notes will open it up. It's simple, and it's just a good technique to getting the notes memorised into your head before you could even attempt hitting them in the right key. (There's a saying that "thinkin" the note will help you "hit" the note.)
The only problem with this technique is you might strain your voice, so IMMEDIATELY when your throat starts to hurt, stop singing and talking, drink some warm water and rest for about an hour or two. No oily food, try not to cough / clear your throat, just swallow. Rest them cords :}

Tone, sustaining it, etc would be coming under the tips most of us has mentioned here. The more "advanced" stage.

Tetra's techniques might work, but I always thought the balls-squeezing were a cheaper alternative

You guys ah... wanna turn the vocalists into alcoholics ar? LOL
