Hi guys, just wondering is it my tapping thats too soft or my setup?

i've seen buckethead's tapping on his halloween theme and tried but the sound i produce is very soft, even on maxed volume. If i up the gain / tremble, the strings gets very sensitive whereby there's alot of noises produced.

Anyone could help me out? thanks :0

Hi, it's definitely not your setup bro. It can be done even on an acoustic guitar :)
Work harder on your technique. I find some videos very useful on youtube, you could try checking them out :) All the best!

Note: Look for instructional videos that teach you slowly, not those that go super fast

Its your technique bro.. Tapping is not really literally tapping, more of pull-offs and hammer-ons in succession..

hmmm, from the looks of it, confirm its ur technique.... alot of people get the pull off's wrong first time. myself being guilty of that too..hehehe

Ya I agree. Hammer on and Pull off.

I bought this magazine during weekend. Guitar Player, talked about Hendrix playing method. got one 1984 article about Van Halen talking about playing guitar for beginner. Quite nice.

He said, one time somebody played his gear. Sounded like that person, not like Van Halen....

Yeah. Essentially 'tapping' is simply hammer-ons and hammer-offs in rapid succession, you have to train your finger strength. It will take a while but keep practicing.

Haha!!!! Nice one, do happen to work for kristofer? He should be paying you for all the promotion.

Certainly Not! LOLz

Just trying to help out a fellow gtr player in the most 'fun' way to learning gtr.
(... and to get some wimmen too!)

oh yes i always stumble on the free guitar lesson on tapping by kristofer something on ultimate guitar, i think. straight forward, easy to understand.

Check out this month's issue of Guitar Techniques, I bought it myself. Has a whole session of Satriani tapping "Midnight".
