How to give your band exposure

Ok misleading thread title. ;)

Here's the deal. I've got a domain, but I'm not really using much of it. Decided maybe I could use the free space I have on something.

Like giving bands more exposure.

We've already got a online magazine like Aging Youth, online podcast the SmallFry, online directory of bands on localmusichere. Now - what else do you guys want? I'm open to suggestions! Nothing too big though, I can't manage something that's too large a scale.

Something exciting/different would be nice.

How about having a site that is dedicated for local bands to post their music. I noe there are purevolume, myspace and soundclick that does that, but its an international thing. havin one dedicated for local music will be good.

^Haha there's nothing there right now! For now it's just a personal site my friend and I share, and I'm using it for my own music:

http://atee.littleblackspot.com/music , the main domain name being littleblackspot.com.

And I was thinking maybe something along the lines of a weekly online interview of a band, plus some pictures and audio/video of their playing put up along with it. I don't know, will that help in any way?

We could also maybe have a dedicated place where bands can perform, like every friday night. Maybe we could find a sponser.

what if it was a photo gallery for all local bands? like, any band that has any gig photos that they'd like to submit can submit them, and whoever wants to view them can go check them out. it'd be like a dedicated picture archive thingy of singapore's bands/singers, a visual representation of the local music scene

serialninja: yup, thats a decent idea,

then perhaps a DETAILED bio page, where theres bio about each of the band members. so the people can get to know them more. but alot of work though. hehe

There's Marine Cove. And hey, it's a website here. Unless you wanna broadcast from somewhere. :P

I think a journalistic view of different bands is interesting, though I think once a week can really take the toll on the journalists.

^All the way James. We've all got lots of respect for you!

Anyway I've set up a subdomain.

http://www.the.littleblackspot.com

(For some reason it only shows when I put in the 'www', anyone out there can help me figure out how I can make it show without having to type them in? It works for the other subdomains. Weird.)

As the site says, audio, pictures and interviews. It sounds lame, but that's about as much as I can think of. Anyone else here still has fresh ideas? Or think the site name's stupid?

i tried http://the.littleblackspot.com on both internet explorer & firefox, working fine.

website looks good to me. time for the first interview or something.

Here are some ideas - but from the soft point of view only...

1. Have an annual Soft favourite (local only) bands awards... by vote system.

2. Have a weekly or monthly spot-lite feature with pix, bio write up etc on bands (newbies, upcoming, established - in the news etc).

3. ONGOING - bands please sign up to play in one of the many gigs available now in SG

what about videos!! haha...

picture this, (MTV-TRL-influenced), "hi we are <insert band name here> and you're watching us live on Le' BLACK SPOT dot com with Ammy T."
with videobloggin' on youtube/googlevideo popular nowadays. shouldn't cost at all to upload such videos. the problem is if you don't have a video camera. if you live nearby my place i don't mind lendin' ya the official gigvideos.com-videocam for a quickie interview. just pay for the DV tape yourself hehe.

60¢ worth.
