i ownes a fender stratocaster..Unfortunately the first string snap!
Cau guys teach me how to fix it?

check out how the rest of the strings sit in the whole assembly. Its not difficult to change, but to write it in words, its another thing.

If its a strat with floyd rose, ignore the above :D

I had the same problem with you last night, switched gauges from 9 to 10s. floating bridges are such a bitch, esp with diff gauges.

Strats, you gotta come for a string changing session with me. :P Its really easy to change guage on a floating bridge, if you have something to block the trem and enough extra springs if need be. Or you can have lots of experience with tweaking floating bridges..

i juz dun get y so many people have problems with floyds? theyre quite easy to set-up and re-string, juz a matter of taking some time to do it

I confess, 1st time changing strings on a Floyd, 5 hours.

Then 2 hours.

Then 45 mins.

Now, 15 mins.
Took me all of 3 years man!

lol... relax man... if you really want to you could get it done at sweelee for i think 10 bucks. for changing all strings.

Actually reading it and doing it is another thing!

Well here's my tutorial in "logical" form! Dats how i gathered my guts to change the strings on my floyd! haha! Serious!

ok .... if u look at it, floyds are actually a balancing act rite?!
so ... if after u put on the strings the bloody floyd is either gonna sink in or "extend out as in upwards"

Thus, if its Sunk In:-
U gotta loosen up the springs.

If its Extend out as in upwards
U gotta Tighten up the springs

Each time u tighten or loosen them springs, Remember, turn each screw the same equal number of times!

Loosening the springs is pretty easy, but its abit different when it comes to tightening it!

So heres how i do it!
ok so the floyd is now extending upwards rite!?
I press my floyd down abit first, so dat the springs are loose, den tighten the springs bit by bit evenly till its leveled!

The floyd will give these prbs if ur changing gauges, but if ur sticking to one particular gauge, den once set is enough! unless of course u "abuse" the floyd, den you'll have to pay somemore attention to it time to time!

This is of course the way I do it! others may/mite hv other or better ways of doing it! i find this the fastest, simplest and most effective way! i did it for the 1st time and it only took me a mere 15 to 20mins altogether! i was expecting it to be 1hour ++ actually! haha! i use DR Extra Life Red Devils coated strings BTW!

Juz my 2cents worth! Hope it helps!
Thanx!
Cheers!

The previous post is regarding the floyd troubleshooting!

heres a more in depth walk through!

so ur guitar is now "Botak" rite!?

1) Put on the strings 1st, but all loose. (after snapping off the excess at the tuning pegs)

2) Den tighten each string till theres some tension (not in tune yet ah)

3) Den tune the strings to ur prefered Tuning scale gving it a few yanks each ( E a.k.a Standard Tuning, Eb, Drop D, Drop C + dont bother abt the floyd yet )

4) Den do the loosen/tighten technique i mention in the above post!

You'll hv to Give the strings a few yanks each till u can get it to stick to the tuning! But also while tuning, pay attention to the Floyd to see if its sinking or extending uowards!

There u go ... Wala!

Again, this is how i do it, others may/mite hv other or better ways of doing it! i find this the fastest, simplest and most effective way!

Juz my 2cents worth! Hope it helps!
Thanx!
Cheers!

And also wen ur tuning ur strings, do it in this manner ...

6 1 2 5 3 4

Low E

High E

A

B

D

G

This way, ur strings are less likely to snap too!

Cheers!
