slightly more work, but still doable. Need to do a rough gauge of the various wire length between pots, pickup, selector switch and the output jack.
wiring of this type geetar will need to have the pickup and selector switch in place and with the wire extend all the way till outside of the F hole. Do lotsa labeling of the individual wires and where it will go to(on the pot). It will be easier to work on it with these labeling on the wires, sticking out from the f hole.
the soldering of the pots and connection to the pickup wires/selector switch wires will be done close to the surface of the guitar body(make sure theres a lay of paper/magazine paste on the instrument to protect the geetar finish.
once the soldering done, tie a longer jumper wire to the output jack, put it thru the f hole. At the same time, all the pots will have to individually fit in, thru the f hole as well. This will be the tricky part. Have lotsa patience and if needed, tie some jumper wire to the pots and machiam fishing, use the jumper wire and fish the pots/jacks into position.
heh, its not as confusing as it sound. Just need more patience and everything will be thru f hole! Using standard size pot, might have slight problem to go thru the f hole. Heh, must tilt one side and slot in nicely(with the rest of the pot following one another). Mini size pot, confirmed no problem going thru the f hole. Pull pull pot as well, shud go thru the f hole pretty easily
Is cutting and joining the pup wires advisible ?
its ok, the thing will still work fine. Only thing is that the joint part, best to use heat shrink to cover it for protection.
