How much is Seymour Duncan Hotrails?

apologies goes to the threadstarter for my harsh reply earlier on.

i do agree that the hotrail's sounds great on a tele, might get piercing when driven and not balanced out though, when you get that balance. sweet!

spinofdoom: good to know a tele enthusiast :-)

there are lots of guitars out there to appease the high gain/ drive needs, the tele by default isn't one but a pickup swap, is a good move if you are fanatical about the tele outline & would want one for the aforementioned need.

i decided to incorporate the Duncan Hot Rails in mine because i feel my Strat's single coil tones are more appealing so the tele is available for some insane high gain stuff which worked out well- it's not just about the pickups, the amp is another important equation to it.

by default, the Hot Rails has a hefty bottom end/ lower midrange, which makes it very suitable for 'metal' type music but Mike Stern has this pickup in his Yamaha & he plays jazz- proof that there's no specific pickup for a specific genre- if it works, it works :-)

hehe thx guys.

I think I'll buy the hotrail pups WHEN I buy the tele, which is Jan 08 :D:D:D

Erm,1 question: Can I ask the shop ppl to help me change the pup?Cosmy bass is completely stock,I have not done any mods/changes.And Fender is not cheap,I dun wanna screw up the Tele the day I buy it by botching a pup change job.

I'm gonna buy my tele frm Guitar77.Will they help me change the pup.

Geez, so many Tele owners are changing their pickups to Hot Rails. Better get mine soon before it runs out again! Or has it?

synths are cool mate .

Haha no synths=cheesy shit but i like it. Think Dragonforce. Cheese and more cheesy-ass fries yummy!

Haha I second zax's opinion, I dun think its everyone's opinion that changing a pup is true. I may be using a stock pup but with careful eq and pedal tweaking i can get a Eric Johnson sound. But then again your tone would improve alot more with a pup change, but it all depends on your taste. Since you wanna play metal, why not get the best of both worlds and get both. heh.

its for metal , with the emgs and all , thats one example of a guitar with stock pickups meant for metal . sorry if i didnt explain earlier

there are lots of alternatives for metal guitars , pickups and so on and so fourth . but somehow when you have a les paul , all that changes hahahaa its like an attention grabber . i mean we see jacksons , ibanez and esps all the time but once in a blue moon , someone shows up with a zakk wylde gibson and everybody goes wow

When i see a les paul, i dont really think of metal though. It associates more with rock, Like Slash and Zakk Wylde. Les pauls give warm, thick tones, which i don't think is really the tone of metal.

Yeah when i think of metal, i do think of ESPs, Ibanezs and even Teles.

metal = jackson, esp, ibanez, dean
never in my mind does a gibson come into play..
to the threadstarter, changing your pickups as everyone has mentioned will vary your sound from amp to amp..
buying a metal muff on the other hand, would give you the typical (which is a$$-whopping btw) sound of the mm..
so, if you rely on amp distortion, and your amp sucks (and you dont plan on upgrading), perhaps a mm is a better alternative..
and be warned, that if u like your guitar's original sound, changing your pickups would definitely change that sound you like..
that's why those who like the tone of their guitars go for pedals and amps, leaving the pickups to stock ones..

i have to agree with the majority.

when i think metal i think ibanez, esp, jackson, occasional tele perhaps? when i think lespaul, i think blues, old school rock, modern rock and even country.

the zakk lp is an artist edition, a replica of what the company has built for the artiste himself. that being said, i don't know if you can quality emg's being "stock",even so, a 8k pricetag proves something.

the hotrails on a tele would alter its tone, but do ask around for softies who have done this swap, perhaps meet them up, hear the tone, is it what you really want?

i get the feeling hotrails sounds horrible when its clean though, mayve u could try 59s or coolrails? i think they provide more versatility in terms of clean. for hotrails, sub alr mentioned it..
i still think esp eclipses impress me more than zak wylde les pauls. maybe cause i dun like things modelled after someone else.. its like. i have my own style, i dun wanna follow _____. so and so.

Haha metal, first thing comes to my mind are fenders surprisingly! But, single coils do give nice tones for metal, but its pretty much in the settings la. Strats for metal! Think, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith! Dave Murray has hotrails in his strat as well! I somehow have this thing with EMGs, don't really like the tone, but thats just me la I suppose!:p
