self-taught and decoded some scales myself too.It was tough to teach myself scales.Best to get someone who knows stuff.

go get a teacher seriously. i was like you. then i decided i need to learn more and now i got back my interest for guitar. actually, i love the guitar even more now. :] i self taught for 3 years, but felt like there was this barrier that i couldn't overcome and so now i'm not self taught anymore. :b

The internet taught me. My cousin and his dad (my uncle) gave me a lot of tips along the way too. But only during family gatherings.

101% self taught.......had a crappy teacher i.e. ME! LOL! But, hey....all of us the self taught legion still play alright, I mean we are more creative and experimental.Lotsa guitar and bass heroes are self taught.
