How many of you guys actually can read music?

Pull out the whole 'musicians should do it by ear' argument, but that won't count for shit when you want session work!

i think versaitity is what counts. You may have to read music during session work, but having a good pair of ears and being able to play is much more important.

the thing is, what if you'r able to come up with sth better during the session? that wouldnt be possible without a good pair of ears.

i only know how to read tab....and i use my ears alot

ive been a violin player before and i quit it cuz the taugei was so damn confusing. all that theory shit was too much for me..

been reading guitarone zine lately and thank god theres the tabs accompanied with the taugei at the bottom. i could have never figured out riffs without them. tabs save my ass most of the time. and my ears too.....if they can manage :lol:

but still, love it or hate it, reading taugei is still part of a musician's daily life.
