Hey I wonder if this topic was ever brought up, but I was wondering how many of us actually know how to read music (score)? I'd be the first to admit I can't...

classically trained peoples tend to read music like the back of their heads imean ur train to seeing those notes since you were primary 1. i bet anione could do it too if you put in effort its not hard really you see those stuff often you get them into ur mind :)

+1 to like the back of my hand.

but to me playing thru ears is hard. I GOT BAD EARS

YEah I think so too. TOday's the first time I sat in at some IG that requred some score knowledge and i was freakin lost.... gosh... Pretty demoralizing honestly...

from age 5 my mother forced me to learn the piano. so for 8 years she sit there with a cane make sure i keep learning and understanding the theory of music. so yea, it really helps.

Yeah... I'm terrible at reading scores (if i can at all...), but hey, for the few of us who cannot, it's comforting to know that even a few of the biggest names in music couldn't either... one of them being Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney for pete's sake! The GREATEST musician of our time... (in my opinion)

Learnt it in my 5 years playing violin. But that was treble clef.. Now i'm on bass. So i still find it hard in those (few) times I need to read score.

I learnt it when I was young, used to hate it.Now i realise how important it is.Sure, every musician should learn how to play by ear but i think it's also important to know what you're playing. That's when music scores come in (:

haha i can read both scores and tabs, but im better with scores. learnt to read them since young, perhaps 5 yrs old when i started piano then..

i can read daogae in treble. but now i play bass... and it sucks.

tabs apparently came before daogae... daogaes came only during the renaissance period if i'm not wrong( correct me if i am).

woah

same here i can only read treble

if you gave me bass i'd be like

uh.. so this is like 4 away from that flat so this must be

ah

F*@0*&)!@*)&$#!@

be glad tt u can at least read..

i've tried and failed..

im nt cut out to read such stuff. :(

for me evrything by ear man....

all musicians should develop their ears. however i wanna learn how to read music too. :)

it's much later when I realised piano is such a beautiful thing. I used to hate it and avoid going for lessons. Still can read though, glad it's something not lost through time..
