How many guitars do you have?

Just an attempt to convince my parents that it's OK to have more than 1 guitar.

So..

How many guitars do you have? How long have you been playing?

i have 3 guitars currently. Dean ML baby, Samick Flying V, Silvertone SG. used to have a Suzuki SG but i sold it off. i've been playing for nearly 4 years btw

and one thing, you can NEVER have too many guitars:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

madnessman, which guitar do you have now and which guitar are you hoping to get? What is the reason for getting the second guitar?

the important thing shud not be how many geetars we have or how long we have been playing

what shud be the focus, how we get the money to get the geetars, what have we done to get the geetar, what have we done after getting the geetars and lastly, are we affecting anything/anybody in our life when wanting to get the geetars...

1 can be too much and 20 too little...

imho

The number of guitars is important. IMO, stick to your current one and work on it. Play and practice and show that you are devoted to this. They will then believe that its a worthwhile investment.

Especially in this time of recession, purchases need to be reasoned. If you don't need it, don't buy it yet.

plus, the length of playing does not justify the number of guitars owned.

em... i have 1 guitar with 33 back-ups...

heh, the rate we are going, the thread might be just flaunting how many geetars we have, but not exactly too useful on convining others(who might have absolute no idea on music and not interested in our music nor believing what we are doing, aka playing geetar is useful) on why we need more than 1 geetar

imho

i have, 2 bc rich mockingbirds (one is my workhorse, the other is a collector and for recording), 1 washburn superstrat (to put at studio so i don't have to lug guitars around), 1 acoustic (for a nice acoustic sound), 1 classical (it's nice, and it was technically my first guitar and it's ancient, so i keep it)

i agree with jms, more is merrier - but if you aren't in the correct financial position for it then stand off first until you are. Even then you might want to consider 2nd hand axes, help other troubled SOFTies out.

if you really are set on another axe, here's what you should consider - do you want a 1) different kind of tone? 2) different kind of feel while playing? 3) a backup? 4) a looker for gigs? 5) just wanna spend money and compete with others' collections?

if 5), please, hold on to your cash or donate it to charity

its good to have different kinda of guitars.
like, 1 acoustic, 1 HH , 1 HSH, 1 SSS guitars.

or heck, u could even have more, like 1 HSS, 1SS :p
