Honestly, how do you find Ronin's debut album?

LOL you can call me baby too!...

i might be mis-understood, due to not providing adequate details...
the american way of phrasing "baby" is just one instance of american-wannabe-ness...
n baby is not a slang (of course)
that and slang r 2 different things...
can't remember the words they slanged americanly, but i sure remember there are here and there

my post wasn't to diss ronin, n i apoligise to any ronin fan who took offense in that. it is just answering to the question of my opinion ...honestly...

in fact i am a ronin fan, i was ... i mean.

Why?? Say baby cannot meh?? Baby got something wrong issit?? Gotta problem with baby?? Baby means buay song meh?? Wanna piece of me, baby?? C'mon baby!! Let's get it on baby!! Just do it baby!!

Hahaha..... Maybe their next album should have a song trashing the word baby!! Then those buay song got nothing to say.

Baby cool lah!! Baby I dig!!

Ok, baby aside, I think as a whole, the band is admirable. The effort they put in, I think 98% of other bands would already given up during halfway there. That's why they are where they are now. With sacrifice, sweat and determination. It's not an easy road.

As a local band, I think they have what it takes to be the next big thing, just have the depend on the market force. Sometimes luck plays an important role, unless you have very high level contacts.

Totally support them, be it americanized music or not. They are still doing Singapore proud, living the Singaporean dream!!! :smt038 :smt038 :smt038

Haven't you read?? Many Singaporean who has gone off panning about greener pastures are making a low profile return to their homeland.

I always believe, whoever you are, and whatever you do. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. If you can't make it here, I not think you will fair much better elsewhere.

American got their dreams, good for them. We are Singaporeans, we have our dreams and aspirations too. I'm proud of Singapore and being a Singaporean. Ronin is doing Singapore proud too. They did it by themself all here in good 'O' Singapore.

Business is business, patriotism is patriotism. Only time can tell what holds for the future.

a lot of underlining anti gov. sentiments in da lyrics!

let me first declare that i have neither heard ronin nor seen ronin before so my follaowing statements are not meted out against them but towards general rock and roll and especially metal. In the case of Singapore, i have seen many (and i really mean many!) bands during my playing life and i must really say that most lyrics and showmanship are really kinda american wannabe... there is already this impression (i feel) that if you play rock and roll, you must typically grumble about the govt, root anarchy, promote casual sex, smoke wheat is cool etc and that if you play metal, you wear black, you dun smile and you hate practically anything about life, and especially christianity. But how many of these people, let's just estimate the number of bands i've come across to be 80, really have this kind of sentiments in them? I think not many, knowing them personally, some could be even bashful about talking to a girl, so why lyrics about screwing a b**tch, most felt happy about the ERS and what they got, why are they having anti govt lyrics? The impression I got is that it was only COOL to do so and that anything against that will mean you're so totally unhap. the term wannabe (as I would derive it) refers to people trying to be someone they are not just because they think it's more"cool" that way. And there you have it, my 2 cents.

Yeah my dream is to Rock.

Anyway thanks for the deal on the Smarvo bass stack. Very nice :)

Rock on bro :supz:

No prob. Lucky, the distributor already no stock for some time. Really worth the price lah. They now have the Ashdown 4X10 Stack, but my cost for that is way higher that what I sold you on the smarvo. I think retail is close to 1K or over.

Let's start writing songs ending with "LAH!" =) sure to make it big! =)

Cmon baby = Cum on LAHHH
Rock a bye baby = Rock a bye LAHHH = Rock a bye HORRR

SO NICE! =) You can't expect us not to churn out songs like that when we've all been brought up in a society so influenced by the West. Everything on TV, ads, radio's mostly in English. So when someone's speaking proper English, they're seen as wannabes too? I doubt so. =) At least the word baby exists in all dictionaries. And they don't go "heyyy doggggg". If they did, well, there must be something wrong with them. =) Well my 50dollars worth. =\

Keep posting then! =)

Hee

hey mikemann, u probably failed your comprehension tests during primary school. hmm... poor thing, if u need help, i can do you a favour, coach you or something *pulls out a cane* :smt082

On the contrary, nice post pepper-, sure makes much sense and definitely worth more than $50 LOL. but i think our range of vocab consists of more than just the LAH word...lah

hmmmmm... just heard some of their stuff in myspace.com.

well, they certainly sounds like "a Rock n Roll band from America." the riffs, the shout-outs, the drums, the hooks, the vocals... reminds me of Black Crowes, Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, Cinderella, GnR, etc, etc...

well, is it original? definitely no. is it formulaic? yes. but hey, they are damn good. they are damn good at what they do. (from the four songs i heard so far!) well, kudos to them...

p.s.: i'm trying to imagine listening to them in 1988 instead of now! well, i'll most probably thought they're from LA...
