Hmm.
leecs, I'm aware that the RP series gives fair tones,
but I would imagine that there are much better multi-efx out there (I'm sure got loads of people will swear by their GT-8, POD XT live, Tonelab SE etc).
But he said he wanted to get the tones of all those famous people with ONE guitar, ONE amp and ONE Pedal. for $499 :roll:

Why nobody ever mentions Yamaha ah? They have the Pacificas and the 112Js are GREAT value for money - I can just grab one off the shelf and go gig like that...
I went with a student to choose a guitar, sat down at Plaza Sing's Music Plaza and played thru about 5 PAC112J and tried the lower end Fernandes guitars. All sounded above average with one sounding just better than the rest.. the QC is quite good eh?
Of course, u buy PAC112 then... You;'ll have 70 for an amp.

leecs, definitely... I've already spent like $3k+ fooling around with amps and efx and guitars. Not exactly a cheap hobby, music.
And yes, I concur that the Yamahas are pretty good in their own right. I just somehow don't feel turned on by their colour range though.

Hmmmm.........u cld try Timbre guitars like wat rork suggested, they are very gd value 4 money and won't cost an arm and a leg, its abt $200-300 for a gd one. 1 very impressive aspect of these gems is that the pickups aren't muddy at all, not like some Epis(no offence, personal experience). But dude, $499 is waaaaaaay too little 4 such lofty ambitions. If u can, save up more and get a PodXT Live or a GT-8 or a ToneLab SE. U can get pretty gd tones frm these. I swear by my XT Live btw. As for an amp, go for one of those Sound Drive MIK amps. Very gd tones frm those. Both Timbre guitar and Sound Drive amps can get frm www.standardvalue.com.sg. As 4 multi-efx, wait until u got more money 1st lah? It'll be cheaper than buying individual pedals if i'm not wrong. These artists all use different pedals.
