hi need help... how to transpose using SONAR

hi i need help here.. i have to record a backing tracks of songs usig SONAR for my fren , a vocalist to practice, hoever the songs we are attemping are new and wee dont know the key... so i do not wan to record over and over again.. thus i found this transpose function under process.. correct enuff... there is a meter to change : -, + all that...but when i click ok... nothing happen to the audio....
can anyoner tell mi how to use the transpose function correctly?

I think what you are using is the transpose meant for midi, just a guess.
I'm not sure whether there is hidden pitch shift function for audio tracks, but I'm using soundforge's plugins to change pitch of audio tracks.
 
Yes, lppier is probably right. You probably used the midi tranpose function which will have no effect on audio. Pitch shifting/correction is pretty standard nowadays. And if you are using Sonar 5, I believe there is Roland's Variphrase built-in which should do the job. Most pitch shifts comes as plug-ins in the audio software. Variphrase should be able to change the pitch without altering the tempo, which is what you want.

I don't have Sonar, so cannot give you step by step instructions. But generally, they all work the same way. If you still have trouble locating the pitch shifting plug-in, do consult the manual that comes with Sonar.
