Help with string spacing.

Hi I was wondering if the spacing between strings should be even? Because currently the 5th string is closer to my 6th string and I've been missing the 5th string when I'm picking without looking at it.

Was wondering if I continue practicing, would it mess with my muscle memory?

Thanks in advance.

they should all be evenly spaced.
but if you're missing the 5th coming from the 6th, no matter how weird its spaced, perhaps you should first look at your picking technique.

thanks for the quick reply ;D

Ah i was practicing how to pick any string that I wanted and improve my accuracy and some alternate picking, but the 5th one has been giving me some trouble so it was pretty frustrating, haha. Noticed that the bridge was sorta pressing it closer to the 6th though.

Problem with the bridge?

Assuming your'e using a vintage styled bridge (cos I think that's the only way saddles can shift) the string position doesn't matter too much. As long as the B string runs along the same area for the corresponding pickup bobbins for all your pickups. There's always some tolerance. (That's why only DiMarzio has F spaced. The other companies say it doesn't matter).

Missing the string is a matter of solving it with practice.

ah i see, because the A string was kinda out of place and this problem only occurred recently.

as you have noticed, kinda a beginner that's why i was pretty worried about my fundamentals. Didn't want my muscle memory to be messed up because of it, haha.

reckon i should tweak the bridge a bit or just to keep on practicing with it?
